I listen to whatever Soundsense feels like playing.

Honestly, I've never liked listening to popular music while playing a game.  It just feels too jarring.  I have a broad tolerance for most game music unless it's a genre that I have a strong antipathy for in the first place.

For game soundtracks you really can't beat Troika's little gem Arcanum.

Ha. I got so sick of the main theme to that game, with the drippy cello, that I hunted through its folders for the MP3 and replaced it with "The Gnome" by Mussorgsky. Much more sinister.

I actually nickname the more unfortunate denizens of my forts with blues style nicknames that describe their troubles, like "Arm and a leg McTell" or "Legless Jones".

Well then, here goes a quick list.. awol nation, arcade fire, airborne toxic event, cage the elephant, coldplay, decemberists, foster the people, franz feridnand, fratellis, grouplove, guster, hot hot heat, killers, kings of leon, modest mouse, muse, mutemath, neon trees, ok go, panic at the disco, peter bjorn and john, phantom planet, razorlight, rooney, snow patrol, vampire weekend, walk the moon, and working title are some. Because I'm a true man. You'd be amazed how well the music goes with smashing goblin skulls or drowning elves.

 (They're the ones I listen to most, anyway. The rest of my music includes things from the gorillaz to led zeppelin and zz top.)

To be honest, for the greater part of my DF gameplay my computer cant handle both DF and pandora. So I make the obvious choice and go with silence. But whenever I can tolerate the slow speeds of my ancient desktop.. tupac radio all day , he speaks to my dwarves.

I tend to change what I listen too, but currently I am listening to Starcraft one Protoss music (Youtubeloop is glorious.) . It just adds so much more to the game.

My ingame music music consists of the entire Sins of a Solar Empire soundtrack, plus the entire Super Robot Wars: Original Generations soundtrack, plus Nightwish's first five albums, plus a mishmash of Within Temptation, Dragonforce and Gamma Ray. Plus one or two of my own compositions.

I mainly listen to krautrock while playing DF. Few if any of the songs have what one could call lyrics so I don't have to "concentrate" on the music. It's just a lot of psychedelic and interesting (rock/electronic) noise. Here's a great song I really dig.
