Yeah, I was worried that it had gone phhhhtttt too. Good to hear it's still on track!

I was a big fan of C3 ever since about 2005, but a few minor issues with item classes and terranium design led me to believe that it does not select norns with superior genome's as well as it could. Thus, I've recently switched to the C2 Akamai Canny norns - which are proving a real handful to manage!

A lot of people complain that Creatures 3 was smaller then Creatures 2... but frankly I actually find it meaningfully larger. (except a few areas)

I can't really blame him for not showing us what he has so far.  This seems to be the sort of project that has very little in the way of results until the point where it suddenly has all the results.

Plus really what could he say? "I just finished the ameno acid sequences and now I am on to the steroid hormones.

Yes, he could say that. He doesn't really say anything at all except for a month ago when he said he undid a bunch of stuff.

Well that is bad.

At least he post enough that we know that he is still alive then, or more specifically, that the people who have backed him know that he is still alive, and theoretically still working on the project.

I don't know what you lot are on about, but every time he posts an update he tells us exactly what he's been doing. In addition to the news posts, we get scans of notebook pages filled with theory work and screenshots of his current test environment. No "theoretically" anything. The only exception to this has been the April post highlighting an AI documentary for which Steve was recently an advisor.

In March alone he posted a 20-paragraph essay of his revamped cortical structure, followed by a small update mentioning him "writing the code for the standard cortical map". Before that, throughout January and February he was reworking the work he'd done previously due aforementioned problems.

Personally I think he takes just enough time off his work to deliver exceptionally detailed and technical updates for those of us curious to know what goes on inside the guts of a newly forming project. If you just want to see screenshots of cute little animals running around, you kickstarted the wrong project; Steve is a scientist and a programmer foremost, and his first job is to build everything we can't see, so that everything we do eventually see is more real than just a bunch of scripted events and pre-designed animations.

Do you mean size-wise, or complexity-wise?  :)

There's a genome by Vampess called Creatures Full of Edits (CFE) that supposedly fixes that and many other problems with creature AI.

It's still early days, but I thought I'd post a link to a video Steve made.  Gaze control might not seem like much at first glance (lame pun intended), but this represents quite a few complex systems finally starting to come together.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?
