Looking at the code, it looks like he's coding in CELLS. From what I can see he's setting it up much like building blocks. He's putting in all the basics first; sensors, cells, etc. Then I guess he's going to build more complex objects from there.

That's the impression I get too.  Coding an actual brain instead of a mind.

I wonder what massive government operated super computer will be the first one to use this to generate a functional virtual biochemical brain, thus simulating a human level intelligence AI.

I sure as hell hope save files will be compressed enough that they can be shared around and stuff.

I don't mean those creatures:adventures games, those don't count.

True though I got more of a preschooler vibe from that game.

I am not sure why they made it though. Creatures wasn't THAT popular to the kiddies.

The only reason they don't generally use Quadrapeds is that there is so much lost when you use one.

Such as hands and... arms.

Though I assume you don't mean a Centaur

Though to admit I do like the Horsey

Raccoons are offended by this statement.
And really, centariform critters are cool too. Considering how he's planning on making creatures that stand and walk using proper physics, going for bipedalism right off the block seems unnecessarily difficult. Quadrupeds have an inherently more stable stance.

Whatever though. I'm really just making excuses because I'm sick of bipeds.

My preference would be for a race of gorilla-like things that can walk on all fours or upright depending upon neccessity/personality/IG stuff.

That works for me. Alternatively, arboreal tree squid.

You know what's even more stable than quadrupeds? Octocentipeds.

Everyone knows 800 legs is better than 4.

Yes, I pulled that term out of my ass. :X

I'm hoping that there will be a level of interactivity to the world. If I was making it, I'd have the world start out as a blank slate, perhaps a semi-forested island. The player would be able to put up huts or shelters for the critters. I'm not talking about minecraft- this isn't about getting the resources or anything, just the player being able to choose the setting they want to work in and raise the critters in.

This has a number of advantages- first of all, it forces the critters to be adaptable. Not only on the large scale (For instance, do they path just as well in a village of huts as they do in one big communal dwelling? What about finding food when the whole town's underground with one exit?) but also the small scale (no two doorways or stairways will be quite the same, so they can't rely on mental shortcuts and won't get endlessly stuck on the same rock sticking up in the same place on every world).

It will also allow for more expansionality later- someone could make a new well or dodad or plant, and players would be able to import it seemlessly into the world however they like.

Current conversations include centaurs, centapeds, octopeds, and combinations of those.

So exactly the same as the above, then?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I just thought. Do you think there will be creature combat?

I mean Creatures 1, 2, and 3 had creatures beating eachother to death.
