Gaint Desert Scorpion
« on: February 28, 2011, 07:00:17 pm »

I noticed that giant desert scorpions can't breed.

Can someone please supply me with the modded raw for them that i can modify my active game to allow them to breed them. Or just the tags i need to complete the raw.

Add [CHILD:X] where X is the number of years it takes to mature into an adult.  In general, you want X to be the same number as the size token.  Like GCS grows to max size after 2 years, as defined by [SIZE:2:some-number] so I changed them to [CHILD:2] so they're marked as mature when they're full size.

[MULTIPLE_LITTERS_RARE] could also be useful.

Thx for that. Will test it tomorrow.

Quick note: it's [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE]

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

Genderlessness:
Ingame: No
IRL: No (or atleast mostly)

Also, scorpions usually give birth to multiple children. The littersize can be up to a hundred.

This may be true, but hundreds of children will slaughter your FPS, and also just not be fun.  Gotta give some rarity and value to those hatchlings!  If you've got them coming out the ears, they're just common critters and not much fun.

It also sucks if there are upwards of 100 feral giant scorpions running around your map, waiting to rape your entire civ...

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Sounds absolutely terrifying.  Well, not absolutely.  Absolutely terrifying would be if GCS had ordinary spider litters.  Screw spiders.

Are you sure you have a male and female on the map?  And are you sure you added it for the world's raws or did you add it to the main raws?

I added it to the save raws and the main.
I have two males and one female.  On chains in a separate room.

I believe they'll also need [PET] to breed, due to a bug.  GDS are [PET_EXOTIC] by default.
