Mouse affects game speed?
« on: April 06, 2007, 05:28:00 am »

I'm running an XP machine with a 2.8GHZ processor and DF runs fine. That is until I put my mouse on the game screen at which point the game slows up something horrible.

I've read some references to mouse input being used, so is this a bug?

I'm not sure as I've never played adventurer mode, but I think that's where the mouse is used.  For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to use in in fortress mode.

You can use the mouse to designate areas in the fortress mode- I don't know about you, but whenever I press "D" the mouse pops up (I have both "mouse" and "mouse_picture" set to "yes" in the init file).

It actually makes designating interestingly shaped rooms much easier, but is rather useless for the most part.

Edit: And it doesn't slow the game down at all for me...

Weird.  No idea.  You can try turning off the mouse in init/init.txt and see if that helps.
