Easier tracking of who has a slab made
« on: February 27, 2011, 10:18:40 pm »

It's really hard to keep track of who you have and have not made a slab for.  It would be nice to get some filters (civilians, friendlies, pets, enemies, animals) to unclutter that and doubly so if it would change the color of their name once someone has a slab made (make it similar to how a person's name turns from green to brown when they own a room).

Otherwise, it's really hard to figure out who to engrave slabs for once you have like 30 pages worth of people/animals/whatever.

I would be tempted to say that you could just take the unnamed animals off of the list, but there's probably some crazy person out there building a hundred slabs for dead kittens to let them know what happens when you mess with a person's FPS.

And also show in special way ghost generators (red?) and potential ghost generators (orange?).

Actually, do like the game already does for nobles and move people who are currently haunting you right up to the top (along with unburried dead).  It already puts the nobles at the top when you're assigning offices, after all, so it can't be that bad to do this for dwarves who need memorials.

That way I don't have to hunt through 30+ pages of critters to find Odom Azbazgazoth or whoever and curse in frustration when I confuse him with Adom Azbazgazoth or Odom Asbazgazoth or Odom Azbazhazoth & co.

Yeah.  The code is already there for things like assigned bedrooms/offices/dining rooms, so this just seems like a logical extension.

Just periodically check the units list for undead dwarves and build a slab for them. You will also get a notification when a ghost appears.

That's a bit hard sometimes when your list of deceased units runs 30-50 pages.

Hard and annoying if you get that "unit will not appear in list" bug or "empty name in list" bug. Good hunting...
