That seems to be a goal. We slightly insane parts of people's brains don't like goals.

Yes but you see this is an insaneish goal so it fits with your part of the brain

You ask your daughter if she wants to stay at her friend's house today, and conveniently enough you wake up in your apartment. You aren't sure why you can only dream of being an unhinged architect of extreme skill who despises restaurants with his loving family, but you enjoy your dreams nonetheless. You aren't nearly as manly as your dream self, and you don't even own a cat. It's Monday, you have work in 25 minutes, and you don't have time to fully prepare yourself. You regret not getting to go back into your dream again, but you still have to earn money for food. You leave your apartment, and grab your bike. You are late for work, and your department manager is clearly not happy about it.

Now anyway

Go through your boring work in the hope that you may get home for a long dream.

You get through your manager's lecture, then proceed to your cubicle. Work is fairly boring, so you figure you'll try to hammer through it, get some dinner, then rush back to sleep. This was the plan, but then your department manager burst into your cubicle accusing you of having an affair with his wife. You didn't even know he was in a relationship, let alone that he was married. You also didn't know that you were in an immoral relationship with his spouse. You aren't sure whether you should punch, choke, or kick him. Perhaps a combination of the three?

With less-than-wild abandon you use your combined experience of three self defense courses to dropkick your department manager in the throat. You honestly weren't expecting that to work, but it did! After a few seconds on the floor gasping for breath, your department manager finally manages to get back on his feet, and he clearly seems to have received the message. Completely unscathed by the event you get back to work, only to be called by upper management. This is such a bother, why does everyone have to inconvenience you today? All you wanted to do was go home and dream of your insane dream self...

You grab your spare keyboard before going to upper management. The elevator ride is stupidly long, and with annoying elevator music, but you survive the trip. You'll be taking the stairs down, however.
You walk up, and the secretary tells you that they're in the meeting room waiting for you. You go in and, to your surprise, the company president in his literally grayscale suit is participating as well. You grab a seat, and clutch your keyboard in fear. One of the generic members of upper management grabs a chair near where you're sitting, and congratulates you for your promotion to vice president of the company. You smashed your department manager's throat in with a drop kick, and you're being promoted to vice president? You try pinching your hand behind your keyboard to make sure you aren't asleep again, and this is indeed reality. You wonder if the company president is insane or not, and are escorted to your new office.
