In my latest fortress, my broker showed up, I gave him a room, and before too long, he demanded a throne in his dining room. (He already had one, if you need to know.) So, I built another throne in there. Didn't matter, he was still demanding it. I built a third. Still nothing. I unbuilt all three of them, and rebuilt one. Still says the demand is unfulfilled. He just doesn't seem to notice.

Did you assign him the chair?

As in turn the chair into a room.
Do that, and his demand of an 'office' should be satisfied.

If I recall correctly, you must *not* assign any furniture that is in the room because of a furniture demand.

Yes, an office can be assigned from a chair. And every noble wants some sort of office. But if it is a throne specifically that is being demanded, assigning does more harm than good.

Is there any smallprint with the throne demand?

Is the dining room big enough to contain the throne, i.e. defined up including the walls?

Smallprint? The demand just says "Demands: throne in Dining Room". The dining room looks like:

with s his first throne, t the table, r a weapon rack, and d the door. The room definitely extends all the way to the walls. I tried putting the extra seating in the two spaces right below the throne and table, with no reaction.

what color is the demand in? red it's unfilled, white it's complete - the demand doesn't go away after you've completed it.
