no job all the time
« on: April 05, 2007, 04:17:00 pm »

Hi,

ok I had a strange situation where two dwarves refused to work for a long time ("no job") although they had all kinds of labor activated and everyone else was busy (the two weren't stuck or anything, either).

I then started to play around and drafted them both, all fine as soldiers. Then I deactivated them, and both started cleaning for a short time. After that it was the same "no job" again.

I thought it would have to do something with cleaning, so I turned that off, but to no avail. Only after drafting them another time and possibly playing around with the cleaning further (can't remember exactly), they finally started to work again...

don't know if that helps.

yeah wasn't so much of a problem and like I said it seems like I managed to solve it, anyway. Just thought it might still be worth to report the bug.

Not sure.  Sometimes they don't get picked for jobs and just miss the cycles when other dwarves take them.

Did you see anything saying "unhappy with the amount of work available last season" in their thoughts? When that happens to a dwarf they'll spend a lot of time tagging along after their guild representative noble to complain, during which they show up as "No Job" and won't do any other work.

Which is kind of retarded when you think about it. "This sucks, there's no work for me to do. I know! I will protest this by NOT WORKING."

hm, yeah they had that thought. Still, that raises the question where the thought came from, cause again there was always more than enough work in the last time, if I remember correctly.

But ok. Great game btw   :)
