Strangest thing to happen in your fort?
« on: February 26, 2011, 10:43:17 pm »

The strangest thing just happened to me.

One of my dwarves was injured severely (I'm not sure how) and he had a broken left arm and broken left leg. He was laying in the hospital for about 4 months, when he becomes possessed. He  regains consciousness and limps over to a craftdwarf's workshop without a crutch or anything. He gathers all of his materials after a while and begins his construction. While in the middle of constructing this artifact, he succumbed to an infection and died.

I'd like to hear your strange stories.

An elephant kicked a chicken around to no effect. I thought it was pretty funny. KICKIN' CHICKIN'!

Engraved at the bottom of my death pit is a goblin falling to his death.

While some dwarf was pasturizing a Yak, they passed through a weapon trap.  The yak exploded in gore.  I like to imagine the bored-out-of-his-mind Hauler triggered the trap for the lolz, but its more likely that the yak got beaten up by a bunny and was unconscious.

occasionally my dwarves would walk to somewhere absolutely accessible, and stuck there
and die.

A dragon walked up to my fort and exploded, killing my entire military. No combat records, no dorfs near the dragon; just a cloud of smoke, fire and ten dead dorfs.

Must've been a morporkian swamp dragon.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

One time I thought I noticed a couple tildes following one of my dwarves around. Eventually I was sure of it and finally was able to loo(k) at it to find that they were intestines. He had healed up and was able to work without a problem, and I don't think he even got infected, but for the rest of that fortresses existence, he was trailing his intestines two whole dwarf lengths behind him!

Baby in a cage.

I have no goddamn clue how it got there. None of my military were carrying babies, and I hadn't seen any Snatchers appear. But I get the message 'Urist McBabby has died of thirst!' and zoom to his location, AND HE'S IN A GODDAMN CAGE!

HOW?!

I managed to get a dragon killed.
What happened was the dragon threw a dwarf at a wall, the flying dwarf exploded, and his leg hit the dragon right in the heart. It bled to death within a few turns later.

Chickens are extraordinarily clever. Anyone who has ever played Fable 3 can tell you that.

I've had the captain of the guard administer a bare-handed beating to my militia captain (who accidentally violated an export ban by hauling a barrel with an earring inside it SIX MONTHS before the ban came around) while he sparred with another soldier.

He dodged every blow. By both of them, even.
