Titan Capture
« on: February 26, 2011, 09:36:21 pm »

Alright, so a titan appeared.  Sadly my military ended it, so I scum-saved.  This is a creature made entirely of water, that shoots... deadly spittle, or something.  Point is, I have a GCS, currently caged and wild (a male) and a bit of time before the titan re-appears.  Even when it does appear, it enjoys chasing around a few dozen cavey pups, so I have some more time while it runs around the map.

I currently have a wall, 21x21 with hollow interior, no moat or bridge, just a wooden door.  What would be the best way to capture this guy?  I'm currently thinking of digging channels outside, removing the ramps, putting cage traps around the hole, and a few decoy doors.  Then, release the GCS on the safe side of the gap, so that he'll shoot webs at the titan while the titan is standing on/near the cage traps, and thus succumb to the cages.

Alternative idea is to do about the same thing, but place the GCS 1 Z above, but I doubt it can shoot down like that.  I may build some temporary scaffolding to place some forts and a bait animal so the GCS will shoot web that will then fall down to the ground onto waiting cages.

GCS webs float.  When plazed on Z+1 and given a stray ram to shoot webs at, the webs just hovered in mid-air, even when diagonal from any support or floating purely in the air with no nearby tiles.  IE, they don't "hang off" other webs or off constructions, they just pure float.  So, that plan to drop webs onto a cage, seems to have failed...

You could always chain the lil' guy and put cage traps around hims, so when the titan heads in for the kill it invariably get webbed and steps on a cage.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

First, try to isolate the titan in a spot where nothing can hurt it, but it isn't in the way.

Once it is under control, design a proper webbed cage trap. The GCS won't reliably shoot at the titan, so you should use a tame bait animal to get the cages webbed.

I think I'm gonna tame the GCS, chain it, and then build a long hallway in front of it full of cages.  Titan goes to smash bug, bug shoots webs, titan GET!

Terrifying, right?

Sadly every scumsave gives me a different titan.  I've tried three times, and gotten the water one, and twice I've gotten this spider-thing.  I may retry until I get my spittle-shooting water creature with a square shell.

What if it tries to shoot the spider instead of smashing it? What if it ACTUALLY HITS?

From the way it chased cavies, it seemed to prefer hand to hand, but shoot spittle as it charged.
