I have just gotten the dungeon master and who I have been happily awaiting. He's actually useful! But for some reason I have not been able to tame purring maggots... I tried small animal taming, but it says cancel right away, so then I tried to tame large animals, which usually results in a list of available animals right? Well the list was empty and I definitely have a purring maggot available to be tamed.

The purring maggot is a small animal.  Do you have meat?  You might need to feed it.  I don't recall.

Yeah I thought it might be lack of food, but I definitely have meat available. So I really wasn't sure what was wrong

Of course, once you tame it, they'll probably just eat it.  There's a bug to that effect.

I take it rats don't count as exotic pets, because I don't remember that happening.
