Goblin Snatcher did WHAT!? & Mystery of the Stranded Liaison
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:03:14 am »

A goblin snatcher was discovered with a baby in a bag. He immediately STABBED THE BABY WHILE FLEEING. WHY!?

I've never seen this before. The snatching happened outside, unless my lions don't count for spotting sneakers.

Also, I stranded a Liaison while building my death maze. I didn't bother getting him down, I hate being interrupted besides I don't need anything in trade. After a while, he "left unhappy" and became a Potash Maker. He was then struck by melancholy. Then he somehow got down, but now one of my geese (?!) is stranded in his place. That is, unless....did the Liason turn into a goose? Nah, that couldn't be...

Ah, just witnessed a second snatcher. They stab and grab. I get it. I was confused because he had a mutilated corpse in his bag. He cut off the baby's foot, bagged it, and it bled to death in the bag.

Also both mothers were out and about on the surface.

Allegedly, if you view the baby while it's being snatched, it says "Urist McBaby is glad to be freed lately."

You've encountered a very rare form lycantropy, he was weregoose  :D
And liaisons are now randomly selected every year from so called existing in the world dwarves (that's why they have some random profession), and are discharged from their duties shortly after finishing their mission in any way. In legends mode you can find every your liaison, the only records about them would be birth of unknown parentage, becoming your liaison and ceasing shortly after.

As for goblins, well they can't farm or hunt, thus it's the only way of obtaining food for them  :D
Seriously though, it might be a bug in combat AI.

edit: Oh, can't geese fly? Are you sure it doesn't stand atop of rotting body?

I checked, there's no corpse to be found. Also, it wasn't a goose after all. It's a...Guineahen.

Oh, found something interesting. Some poor recruit beating a blind cave ogre to death with an iron bow. So much for "preferred ranged weapon". Crossbows only, archers! I can't make arrows!
