I would prefer a death in glorious combat. Not actual combat, because I'm a pacifist of a sort, but a similar contest. Trying to bring about change in the world, for example. I could go as a martyr.

If, by the time I'm about to die, Cryonics have been disproved, Cyborgs do not exist and it's yet impossible to put all your memories into an electronic container until you find a new body, I'd like to die during my sleep. However, in the case that I'm diagnosed with something incurable and I can't get over it, I'll find an awesome way to die like driving off a cliff in flames onto a Christian manifestation and exploding when I touch the ground into fireworks.

Surrounded by books, knowing that I had done something good for the world.  This excludes dying in my sleep.  I want to be able to consciously think "It's okay.  I did my part."

It already is how I'm living (I have five bookshelves and more books that won't fit piled on the floor, in my loft, and in my armchair--and those bookcases are double-stacked, too), but if I kick it somewhere that doesn't happen to be a library, cathedral, or beautiful natural landscape, it'll be too bad.

Or a classroom.  I'd be okay with that, too, provided that I didn't traumatize my students for life.

I think it would be hilarious if I died while skydiving. If I'm dead, I wouldn't mind too much anyway, so at least my body would get some extra motion before being interred. Gotta loosen up them joints.
