Empire of the Ants (Come in here anyways)
« on: February 25, 2011, 08:02:57 pm »

So I got this old copy of a game Empire of the Ants. Ran it fine on Vista but it doesn't seem to work on XP. My workers never do anything, and just sit around. I get a command parameter warning starting it up, so something may be wrong with the Ai script or something. Any ideas? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_the_Ants_%28video_game%29

What exactly does the warning say?
Also, how old is the disk? Could it have gotten damaged since you ran it on your Vista?
Is it patched to the latest version?

Unknown to me, there is a mold growing on the bottom. I shall clean it and hope it isn't the acid making kind, ruining my disk. But, I must be retarded for not looking at the disk itself.
It also crashes my drive and makes it disconnect, so I have to restart my entire computer to read a single disk. THANK YOU SIR WITH COMMON SENSE

Upon attempting to run the game on my machine, I am also getting that message when I launch it. To be fair, though, I have no idea how to play anyway, so I wouldn't know whether my workers are working or not. The fact that most of the text is French doesn't help either, but I'll see what I can do.

Well, atleast mine is in English. Restarting my computer soon to try to bring it back up and see if it was just the yellow mold.

So that's the book about intelligent ants I read ages ago. I think that with remembering the name of Dare to Dream and Slinkies, I've got my vague childhood memories pretty much squared away now :)

Ants are my favorite animal/insect.  Where can I get this game/is it any good?

Grab up SimAnt. It had one of the best manuals ever. 3/4 of it is ant biology and such.
