Some embark area help.
« on: February 24, 2011, 10:15:49 pm »

Can some one help me. I'm not very good at creating custom maps (with the custom variables thingey.). I'm tired of playing in Idilic peacefull settings. Even when I settle in an evil place (for some reason I get very few of them in world gen) they are almost empty. Or if they aren't empty there is no resources.

Can some one help me by generating a world that has alot of evil, terrifying, ect places. Or send me a map (jtfightmaster@gmail.com) and tell me where a good embark is (preffibly with some good minerals)?

Well, in terms of "almost empty", keep in mind that civs can't colonize savage areas, and I believe that non-goblin civs can't colonize evil areas (can goblins even do it, at that?).  So, if you crank those settings up too high, you'll have trouble finding neighbors.

As for no resources, that's an issue in the current version.  If you go back one version, you'll lose some neat stuff like pottery and bees but have TONS of resources; next version will hopefully have more resources too.

When I say empty I mean that there is nothing there. No monsters, no animals, no nothing. most of the time it might just be a bunch of those evil trees.

It doesn't even need to be an evil area, just an area with alot of things that want me dead.

If you can hold down a good fort, I'd suggest getting a mod.  Genesis and Intensifying Mod both work to make the game more difficult and throw more weapons at you.  Genesis has like 16 civs too, so you're always under siege by someone.
