Adventure mode attack menu/culture selection menu suggestions
« on: February 24, 2011, 05:03:12 pm »

Two short (word-count-wise) suggestions regarding adventure mode:

1) In the race/culture selection screen, have the player choose race and culture separately, rather than together. This would reduce the size of the list and in the future could also allow an easy way to choose a different race in multiracial cultures (whether through conquest, migration, or mod design). The tab key could allow to switch between race and culture (or maybe you switch with the cursor keys), to see what races and cultures are available, and selecting one then restricts the possible options of the other.

2) In the Attack menu, add the compass directions of the adjacent enemies, and possibly their status symbols, like the current companions display. In addition, pressing the capital letter of an enemy should bring up the creature's description. This should help in larger combats to better keep track which opponent you have wounded already so that you can better concentrate on that opponent (or more dangerous ones as the case may be).

While you are at it swap the announcements, and aimed attack hotkeys. I know we can do it ourselves, but it makes no sense that something you will do a hundred times is harder to do than something you will do maybe five.
