As your senior diplomat in western europe, I don't advise a pact with Spain.  That will probably draw us into conflict with France.

-Independant command upgraded.
-Russia surrenders to France, pussies.(They cede Corfu, reduce military readiness and reduce forts)

We have 4 new ships that need names now.

-Prussia forms a protectorate pact with Saxony.
-We are preparing for war with Russia, military readiness has been increased and we are recruiting men for the army again.
-Our maximum draft age is lowered to 40, we will have no old men in our army.
-Our privateer the 'Snarky' is leaving Stockholm to raid British trade.
-Mainiac is en-route to Mecklenburg to try and stage a coup there. After that he will be heading to Russia to stir up trouble.

Snarky makes it into the eastern Atlantic and starts raiding shipping!

-France is rising on the Glory(score), whoever gets 1000, wins. Britain is on 600, but France has risen from -700 to +100 in a few years, the game isn't over yet!
-Our army and navy are at full readiness. Our navy leaves port on it's mission to destroy the Russian Baltic fleet west of Denmark.
-Three more 4th rate ships being made, we will need to replace losses soon.

Our fleet engages the Russian Baltic fleet off the coast of Denmark.

Next - Massive naval battle. Our ships are better quality than the Russians, but they have some heavier guns.

Tactics suggestions welcome!

I suggest we avoid ramming and boarding the Russians, they are likely to have more men in the ships(as they are bigger generally). Also I made sure our navy was fitted with more cannons than usual for ships of their size, so may be able to stand toe to toe with the bigger ships.

Our main advantage is moral, our sailors are far better trained than the Ruskies.

This will either be our finest hour, or epic fail.

Also, our army is crossing in to siege Copenhagen, so if our fleet fails they will be cut off

I've had a look at their fleet, its incredibly depleted! more than half the sailors are gone, even in our smaller ships we could probably capture them!

Strategy is this, swing round and move towards the south east side, ram the bigger ships and capture them, to stop their long guns doing alot of damage to the fleet. After that use our long guns and keep firing until all the ruskies are sunk.

Their biggest ship 'Ratniy' has 84 long guns, our biggest has 66.

Our ship Forsiktigheten is critically hit and set afire. The crew quickly extinguish it however.

Some of our ships collide when maneuvering. But none suffer any major damage.

The fleets are intertwined, cannons firing point blank as they pass each other.

The Russians are inflicting more damage, but our men are dauntless, the first Russian ship strikes their colours, the Frigate 'Legkiy'.

Forsikheten is set afire(Again!!) by cannon fire. The crew put them out again.

Ratniy Strikes her colours! another first rate ship strikes its colours after suffering many cannon hits from close range.

Our ship ferdlandset launches its grappling hooks at a russian vessel, they begin to board her. The Silniy is captured!

Our forces charged the walls, both sides lost 4000 men this month attempting to take it, but the walls are breached.

1809 July

Snarky was damaged fleeing the Russian fleet.


The danish and baltic fleets have joined east of out coast, they are formidable.

Austria canceled their alliance with us.

The garrison of Copenhagen surrenders, our forces move to Jutland and begin the siege.

The Danish and Russian fleets are hidden to us, they have probably withdrawn.

Snarky continues to evade the Russian fleet, but needs a rest for a while.

Mainiac is sent to Russia to spread propaganda and demoralise the Russian state.

Sept.

A Danish army under Russian command is about to enter Finland, it is fairly small, our garrisons there should hold for a good while.

We captured Jutland, and are recruiting militia in the Danish mainland to man the forts.

It is clear that the Russians are invading Finland, their main army is behind the Danish.

We are raising a new artillery battery in Stockholm.

Nov. The Danish army marched straight to Stockholm and attempts a siege, unlucky for them our army is back in the mainland already.

We defeated the Baltic fleet as it tried to blockade Malmo, but the Danish fleet is lurking about, we suffered heavy damage. Our fleet will remain in Malmo for the rest of the war Id imagine. The Russo-Danish Army sieging Stockholm will be engaged by our 70,000 strong army.

The battle of Uppland

Our army marches forward down a road with trees on either side, on the right flank our cavalry spots Russian cavalry screening their army. We cannot see where their infantry are.

As our army clears the treeline our artillery sets up its guns barring the enterance, while our forces stand beside inside the treeline.

Our infantry then marches out and forms a battle line, the Russian cavalry withdraw their screen and begin to withdraw.

On the right flank the Russian cavalry is charged by General Sandel and the 16th Lt. cavalry, they flee. However there is more cavalry in the area.

The Russian cavalry on the right flank are evenly matched with ours, however our 3rd Jager infantry open fire from the treeline and inflict heavy casualties on them.

As night falls on the first day, the Russo-Danish cavalry withdraw.

Our artillery is redeployed to a hill near the treeline, a better firing point.

Russian infantry are spotted during he night on the right flank, it appears it is there they will attack. Our forces shift right to counter them.

The artillery is now north of the Russians, setting up their guns on the flank.

The Russian cavalry then used the woods as cover and tried to attack north and west, but our infantry and cannon blew them away.

On the right, our cavalry charged the woods and dislodged a group of infantry, they were disorganised unable to form a line in the woods, as a result our infantry lined up and shot over a 1000 of them dead.

The Russian army sounds the retreat, they have been absolutely massacred!

They lost over 12000 men! we lost only 2625. Half of their losses were during their rout, our cavalry hacked them to pieces.
