Bridges as floodgates
« on: February 23, 2011, 03:20:57 am »

Idea for a trap....  using a raised drawbridge as a barrier to a lot of water. When the attack comes, drop the bridge (hopefully smashing a few gobos under it) and let the tidal wave sweep acroos the 3 wide path and push the invaders into a DEEP pit. Any probs with this idea? The main one being that raised bridges are water tight pls.

This should work. I stopped using floodgates all together in favor of bridges.

I also read somewhere that a raised bridge could not be destroyed by a building destroyer, but I have no idea if that is true.

Something you might type in a German language class if you were stupid and playing some kind of text tag, I guess.

I think that was correct in 40d, but was fixed since. Or it might still be true.

Well in any care just put a small channel infront of the bridge, problem solved.

The bridge does have a delay, like the floodgate, so timing may be an issue.

So far in 2010 raised bridges still get ignored by building destroyers, so you cant use them as bait unfortunately, I have tried. I have a feeling that they do not destroy bridges because they would forget the distinction between raising and retracting and tend to destroy bridges from below themselves constantly.
