Oh and we captured a Union artillery battery, huzzah!

Moral of our guys has risen to 'Regular', due to reinforcements they are all about 3000 men strong aswell.

Camps are being built all over the Confederacy to train new recruits.

March 1862

The federals attacked Fredericksburg again and failed, Jackson is holding the Union off in the Shenendoah Valley.

Our Army of Tennessee must engage Grants army, he is marching south into Arkansas. They outnumber us, so Polk will have to use superior strategy.

The battle begins with our cavalry, Terry's rangers, scouting around. south, and the Pelican rifles (scout/snipers) scouting the west and north west.

Lead Union forces were spotted to the west, our forces deployed in line formation on a ridges called 'Ore Nob' and 'Archers Bluff'.

The Missouri state guard surrounded an exposed garrison and the garrison surrendered.
The first point goes to us.

At 5pm of the first day, our 10lb parrot rifled artillery deployed ontop of Archers bluff and the 'Rocket battery' 6lb arty on Ore Nob.
The Union deployed pickets at wooded areas between us and them, but held everything else back, when night comes we will advance on them.

Int's Fighting Rifles moved in and engaged a picket, Fb's Fighting Fifth assist as our artillery opens fire. They manage to chase off the picket and return to our lines.

The Missouri state guard marched west to the southern flank of the Union armies, preparing for a flanking attack.

As night falls our forces drag the artillery guns forward, form in lines preparing for assault and have a rest.

When morning came at 8am, the field was covered in a tick fog. By 8:20AM the fog cleared, and the signal to open fire the artillery was given. Then the infantry moved in.

Smoke began to fill the whole battlefield as volley upon volley was fired, John Bell Hood was at the left flank commanding the artillery himself. The left flank was beginning to waver and Hood knew we couldnt allow that to happen.

Union commander U.S. Grant took a rifle hit and was wounded in battle.

10:20AM
Hoods artillery battery came under direct attack and managed to use the sheer firepower of cannister shot to repel them, however our line is beginning to break.

11:00
Our forces are in chaos and we are forced to retreat.

We lost 4229 men and killed 6752. The 'rocket' battery we captured was recaptured by the federals :(

For now, it looks as if we can hold the Yankees from any major advances, although the Western theater is a bit precarious.

I would suggest that you start raiding the North while you have the advantage. They can win a war of attrition; you cannot.

Actually I hadn't considered this. I was too scared :D I may send R. E. Lee into the north and fight defensive battles as they come. In the west we cant raid any though, we have enough trouble defending.

See if you can raid as far as Pennsylvania!

Just make sure you have adequate cavalry screening this time...

May 1862

In the west, disease is effecting the army. Union general U.S Grant sieged and destroyed two forts down the mississipi.

General Leonidas Polk leads another attack against grant, to relieve Fort Pillow, his next target.

During the battle:

Int's Fighting rifles noted for bravery, over 1000 got shot down point blank assaulting a union artillery battery.

At the end of the second day, both sides lost 9000 men in a bloody battle by the river.
In the battle we captured union general Oglesby with his battery, who commanded the rocket battery(artillery).

Lee has entered Pennsylvania and is pillaging the countryside! General Jackson is on the way to assist him, with fresh conscripts!

FB's Fighting Fifth have become 'Seasoned' experience level.

Next target, Our division under W. J. Hardee is going to attack the federals in the Lower Tennesee, with A. S. Johnstons army at Bowling Green in support.

June 1862

We defeated the yankees around the Tennessee, we are continuing to fight around the area.

Our garrison in Fredericksburg was beaten back, but there are 3 forts there preventing the Union taking control and we can sally forth now.

Lee however invades Maryland, the yankees will have to withdraw and fight him, or loose Washington.

August

Lee defeated the Union at fredericksburg again, he advances across the potomac towards washington.

Despite his best efforts, the Union defeated him across the potomac, we lost 11,000 men to their 8000. Generals Pendleton and A. P. Hill were wounded. General George Pickett was killed.

September

Lee continues to fight the Union army in the Shenendoah valley, neither side has gained advantage.

BP's Arty is finished, 6lb guns currently.
Our division has been taken command of by Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Only the Florida cav hasnt been made yet.

See, that's what you should be doing.

You see, the confederacy simply can't hold the Union in a long war. Fight decisive battles, preferably with good enough intelligence to hit their weaker armies.

We are also outnumbered more than 2-1 on every front. What you say is going to end in constant battles in north virginia and maybe i can break into pennsylvania, but thats a big maybe. For now kicking the federals out of the Shenendoah Valley is the objective in the east :D
So far, no progress, but no disasters either. We are also being bled white from all the constant battles in the east trying to fight them.

In the west we are doing fairly well, mainly because I focused on providing equipment their first as the east was defensive.

Currently we are fighting at a 1:1 casualty rate, I will order conscription I think in the east to refill the army. Not to mention two good wounded generals and one killed.
