Furniture Stockpiles not working?

My 70 idle dwarves are refusing to move my mountain of furniture into my furniture stockpile. Is this happening to anyone else?

Nope.  Is there a path (without any locked doors, and does it have ramps?) between the furniture and the stockpile and one between the dwarves and the furniture?  Is the furniture forbidden?  Is the furniture tasked for other things (which actually wouldn't make sense because then they would be moving it to where it needs to go, unless it was tasked for decoration)?  Is the stockpile empty?  Do your dwarves have Furniture Hauling enabled?

Gotta make sure of the simple solutions first; you have no idea how many times I've gotten enraged at my woodcutters for leaving a whole mountain of trees unchopped only to realize that there had been a river in the way since I moved in.

every dwarf has furniture hauling enabled since they all installed doors without any problem. Pathing seems to be fine because they dumped the furniture into the stockpile when I ordered it dumped. Stockpile is completely bare.

Tried genning new world and the dwarves used the stockpile fine, so I'll keep looking.

Wait, you dumped all the furniture?  Was this before they wouldn't take it to the stockpile?  If so, did you reclaim it from the dump?

This was after I realised they wouldn't haul the furniture. I reclaimed after that, but they still won't haul it. Tried making other furniture stockpiles too, no success.

all furniture is indoors? most times they refuse doing stuff is when shops and products are located outside or under formerly open sky ..so you need to enable outside hauling in the menues :)

just asking :)

Is the furniture stockpile a default furniture stockpile, or have you customized it at all? Often, people customize stockpiles such that they include stone furniture but not metal furniture, and then fail to realize that, due to an oversight, the "metals" list on the custom stockpile screen includes every type of stone. As such, essentially those people permit stone furniture in general but forbid every type of stone in particular.

Also, just to confirm: you cleared out the stone that digging out the stockpile chamber left before trying to put furniture in it, right? Anything at all on a tile will block furniture from being stocked in that tile, so you've got to get rid of the stones first.

Yeah, it's a completely unmodified stockpile. I already had all the stones occupying the space dumped away as well. all the stuff is underground as well.

Is the furniture in a stockpile that accepts furniture already?  I had that happen to me -- made a new stockpile specifically for food, but nobody moved the food there until I DISabled food in the stockpile were the food was currently located.

After unlocking the Fun Stuff and having half my fortress slaughtered before I could reseal them, the dwarves are suddenly using my furniture stockpile again. Strange.

They required motivation.

This same thing has just happened to me.

I've got several workshops on one level and directly below them I've got several empty furniture stockpiles and at least one uncustomized stockpile. The workshops are connected by up and down stairs. My bed and door stockpiles USED to accept furniture but suddenly stopped, and no other stockpile is accepting. I built some stockpiles nearby the workshops and they filled up immediately. I've disabled and enabled the dysfunctional stockpiles, and I've removed them and rebuilt but to no avail. I built a furniture stockpile on the surface z-level outside and it filled up immediately. I removed all traffic priorities and nothing changed.

Update!

AHA! I figured it out! Hidden stone was blocking the stockpiles. Damn stone!!!

PS sorry if this is out of place or something, i just found this thread through google.

I had something similar with cages. My dwarves would just leave them, especially after being used in a cage trap. It was pretty annoying.
