It was way past midnight, when I forfeit the game.
Me and my opponent had both made some rookie-level mistakes, which had led to only a few pieces having been left on the board.
My three pawns, and his king and queen.
We decided to leave the board like it was for the night.

NativeForeigner, how are the pawns still in play with no king?

Great question. They have obviously hacked the chessboard.

How will you react if we have a vengekill? Do you think you will be the ever-popular target?

Book: If you just got lynched and flipped town, how would you specifically come about deciding who to vengekill?

Book: If you just got lynched and flipped town, how would you specifically come about deciding who to vengekill?

It would really depend on how we had gotten there. But in general, I'd vengekill whoever I was most sure was scum. One thing I would not do is worry about who is the godfather or who is the mafioso; the game is hard enough without splitting hairs that thin. Just vengekill a scum to make sure your death has meaning, and if you succeed, hopefully the rest of the town can deduce who his partner was from context.

Argembarger: Who here would you prefer as scumbuddy? Which pair would be scariest as scum team?

Jack A T, Native Foreigner: If a person who you thought was scummy had two other's votes on him, how soon would you hammer him? What would need to happen before you did?

Pandar: in other games, when you've found someone you think is scummy, you've threatened "I would self hammer to shoot you". Do you think that's a viable strategy? If so, when would you do it? If not, would you consider someone saying it and then backing down to be scummy? Also, how is your question to Native going to help you find scum?

Book, I'd want you as a scumpartner, and the scariest scumteam here would be you and Pandarsenic.

Jack A T: If you were the godfather, would you consider bussing your mafioso from the start of the game?

Pandarsenic: does the looming, inevitable vengekill bother you any more than usual?

Jack A T: If you were the godfather, would you consider bussing your mafioso from the start of the game?
That's an interesting question. Arg: Would you? Feel free to wait until Jack responds before answering if you wish.

Book: How should a mafioso act in relation to the Godfather?
In the scumchat, with obsequious deference, swooning admiration, and sycophantic devotion ("Yes sir, Mr. Bossman! Your wish is my command, Your Deviousness!"). In the thread, exactly the same as with any other player.

NativeForeigner: What would you do if the hammer was falling on you?
Why, hang of course. What else can one do? Duck?
(Heheh, just kidding; the question invoked a funny mental image, so I couldn't resist. Didn't mean to high-jack the question, so Native please do answer it).

Of course we have a vengekill. Probably. Do you mean how will I react if a townie is lynched?

Yes, I suspect I shall.

Pandarsenic: Who do you think would pose the greatest threat as scum?

Book. I'm uncertain how well I can read him. Though apparently I can't read you, either.

In order: Yes (as a last resort if ABSOLUTELY certain). Yes, I would, with the aforementioned caveat. I would do so if I was absolutely certain and the town seemed likely to lynch someone I believed was town whom I believed would shoot someone else I believed was town. I would not consider saying it and then not doing it to be scummy, because it should only be utilized as a last resort. The question to Native helps by initiating the day's discussion.

Book, I'd want you as a scumpartner, and the scariest scumteam here would be you and Pandarsenic.
Pandarsenic: does the looming, inevitable vengekill bother you any more than usual?
Pandarthritis wasn't too scary last time because of the inevitable vengekill on me. Speaking of which, not really. I've gotten used to it.

Book and Jack A T, accounting for player skill levels, how likely do you think it is that:
1) We hit Godfather day 1
2) We hit Mafioso day 1
3) We hit a townie who vengekills a Mafia member
4) None of the above
5) One of the 1-4 happens and the other Mafia member is implicated by that Mafia member's posts

Also, Unvoting, so I don't have to remember to later.

Jack A T, Native Foreigner: If a person who you thought was scummy had two other's votes on him, how soon would you hammer him? What would need to happen before you did?

I would reread carefully, and give the guy a chance to defend himself (if he hadn't already).  Then I would hammer, if I still felt like it.  Lynching is a high-risk activity here, as far as I can tell, with the possibility of a D1 loss if the wrong person is lynched and shoots the wrong person.

Jack A T: If you were the godfather, would you consider bussing your mafioso from the start of the game?
Yes, if he started acting too scummy.  Makes me look more town-like.

1: Not too likely.  1/5 chance of hitting the right person from the start, plus one person existing to direct attention away from the godfather...
2: More likely than 1.  It looks like the easier role to catch, with its purpose being to do a risky action and the chance of bussing.
3: Somewhat likely.  50% chance of hitting scum by just firing randomly.  If scum acts scummy, the chance increases.  If town acts scummy, we're doomed.
4: Again, somewhat likely.  If town acts scummy, we're doomed.
5: Let's see...I'll pretend that said 2-3, instead of 1-4.  Frankly, this depends most on who the scum is.  If scum is inexperienced, more likely.  Highly experienced, far less likely.

Unvote.
