Stone weapons
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:27:10 pm »

Given the current lack of metals, is it possible to manufacture stone weapons like stone clubs or axes (neolithic style)?

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

If you have obsidian, you can build Macuahuitl (obsidian swords) at your craftsdwarf workshop

Only using mods.
I've never understood this oversight.

Is obsidian still one of those "undefined amounts" in relation to its sharpness/hardness values? Does it still get randomized at world gen time (or embark, I forget which it was)?

Mainly I'm asking whether you can rely on obsidian short swords? And are they any good now?

There was some old bug involving obsidian weapons and how even though they were made of stone, they were considered wooden because the handle was wooden.  I don't know if anything with that has been fixed.

I believe they were called wooden but still acted like obsidian.

Oh that must've been it.  Still I don't remember them being as deadly as steel was in the 2D version.
