Frankensteins Superdorf
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:37:51 pm »

So I noticed that one of my squad members got adamantine strands sewn into his left upper arm. You can see this in the inventory. Now, does this give him protection and if so, what about forcing the dorfs to get hurt enough to get adamantine strands sewn into every bodypart? Could one create some superdorfs like that being immune to fire and stuff? Just imagine the power in your hands!

Sutures do not count as armor.  You've just wasted some precious blue stuff at the hospital.  No bonus to healing either.

Neither ada strand nor cloth treated wounds will give the soldiers any kind of advantage. Sorry to burst your bubble, but all it does is waste a valuable resource.

Life (in dwarf fortress) is a cocophany of flavours, each more succulent than the last - why not sample them all?!

Grafts would be an awesome feature when magic gets added in.

Attaching adamantine blades to dwarves' arms or giant cave spider fangs to their mouths to create super-soldiers would kick ass.

Or, for that matter, grafting on some sheep skin on to a Shearer so he can just shave his back would be neat.

Attaching angry, salivating kobolds to both of your dwarf's hands would be stylish.

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

This should produce horrendously bad moods throughout the fortress though.  "Urist was horrified by the magic lab recently."

Or "Urist was horrified by the deformities of another dwarf recently." or "Urist was horrified by his own deformities recently."

Of course, certain personalities should like deformities.

This is Blazecracks the Anvil of Clouds, an antman left arm. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It menaces with spikes of pine. It is encrusted with trout bone. On the item is an image of a crab in horse leather.
It is currently attached to Toshid Pagesquares, Fisherdwarf.

Maybe in the future we could get muscle and bone enhancements from adamantine. But only designated personnel ofc.
