Reserved for an update tonight. Sorry for the delay; I've had some personal stuff on my plate which is now, thankfully, clean.

Is a peace treaty possible?

Careful, comrade Elfeater. Suggesting an outcome that isn't total victory or death is dangerous in the Soviet Union. :P

That does bring me to a point I'll probably have to make a poll about eventually: puppeting vs. annexing. To date, we've been annexing (our plan is, after all, for a red world), but this brings with it problems. Annexation increases our belligerence, which makes it easier for other countries to declare war on us (hence the 80-100 American divisions over in Vladivostok).

So, I'm thinking that puppeting might be the wiser move going forward. Here's why:
  • Puppeted nations will keep what militaries they have left. This will give us access to the Italian and German fleets, both of which are relatively substantial. In conjunction with our bombers, we could probably turn the Mediterranean into a Soviet lake by taking Suez and Gibraltar (when it comes to that).
  • There are research benefits. Germany in particular probably has some research we don't and vice versa; since a puppeted government keeps that, there would presumably be some blueprint trading.
  • We'd probably get enough resources to support industrial expansion out of it: everything the other countries produce in excess of a stockpile of 1000 goes to us.
  • No partisan problems: their internal unrest isn't our problem. This one's major, since it takes so many troops to hold an annexed area with low revolt risk. I'd rather spend the manpower and IC on new soldiers, rather than on garrison forces.

The only major downside is that we don't get 40% of a puppeted country's IC, but at the same time, they'll have all of it to spend as they will, which doesn't worry me too much. A more specific downside is that Germany's in a bad way with regards to manpower; they have about 300 and need about 800 to fully reinforce their army, so they won't be hugely useful for the first few years after we conquer them.

Puppeting seems to have its benefits. I also personally happen to be a fan of rainbow maps full of satellites. Does it really matter whether there's a German or Ukrainian bayonet keeping the populace in place as long as all bow to the grand Communist ideals?

I would prefer annexation but puppeting a few people sounds fine.
Also I would not be oppsed to having my unit's bomb the Amercians. Their attacks on Khabarovsk are getting pretty annoying.

My schedule is slipping again. Blame Mass Effect.

We continue to not have the men to spare to mount a major offensive in the Far East (it would be a long, looong slow grind).

On the plus side, I played two whole months right after I posted that, and news from the German front is good. Depending on what my family wants to do tomorrow, I may have the update done then.

Can I at lrast just bomb the shit out of them? Actually if our plane range is long enough it might be fun to hit LA or San Fran or Hawaii.

Our bomber ranges are presently about ten times too short for that.
