No pathway but the path is right there
« on: March 24, 2007, 11:33:00 am »

I built out a room for a still, and I order one to be built. Instantly they cancel construction because they couldn't find the pathway. I try it again several times to no avail. I eventually place a still in the middle of a wide, open hall, and immediately they suspend construction of the still again even when it's in a wide open place like that. What's the deal?

Perhaps there is a rock on the location that is slated for the construction of the still. Normally, such a rock would be moved during construction of the still. However, if that rock is slated for use elsewhere (stockpile hauling, bridge construction, etc.) it will cause cancellation of the building to be constructed until it is moved.

Build 6 stills. Just in case.    ;)

Edit: do you have large stone stockpiles that just haven't gotten filled yet? Go to orders and tell your dwarves to ignore minerals (or rock or stone or whatever the setting is). After a minute or two the queued stonehauling jobs will clear out and you should be able to successfully unsuspend construction of the still. That is, provided that is the reason...

It is also possible that the materials you want to use are inaccessible, try selecting a stone from a few pages down next time.

Another thing I've noticed is it will suspend if there is something that needs to be moved out of the way and all adjacent tiles are unavailable or under building blueprints that haven't been build or aren't suspended.
