I just finished readin the story of Boatmurdred and... wow... just wow. does anyone here have a story about how Boatmurdred affected them and their fortresses?

It made me want to create a superweapon. I've tried using poisonous FBs and a 'clean up' system. But that resulted in the destruction of my fort. Thanks, Boatmurdered!

i had fear of elephants for a lot...

until i killed them with a wooden spear. Also a carp, other terror of the dwarves, with the same spear.



Now i fear sturgeons. one of them knocked me unconscious and then chopped all my limbs off!!

I don't think it had impact on my forts. I just laghed hard reading it. I also read headshots, but it wasn't as funny, and I hated the last 10 or so posts of Headshots, because overseers were willingly destroying the fortress.

Made me start playing DF.  It was just...  so wonderful.  Hard to tell what was going on, so I pledged to figure it out so I can enjoy it more.

My first shot at DF resulted in confusion and despair.  Found Boatmurdered at a random interweb link, and although it did NOT show me how to play, it made me see that recreating that sort of mayhem is the point of the game.

Someone linked boatmurdered to me on something awful when it was new, it got me hooked on something awful but sadly i totally forgot about Dwarf fortress. Untill someone else relinked boatmurdered to me last year... i got a wave of nostalgia and a huge facepalm moment when i realised what i had missed out on ='(

Yeah, I would never have started on Dwarf Fort if not for Boatmurdered. The real lasting impact on my actual gameplay is a deep seated desire to tame and weaponize as many elephants as possible.

i seemingly had elephants more frequently after reading the story of Boatmurdered.

and well i turn them into many uses, including many, if not all that were listed in Boatmurdered's record.
