Remove [PET EXOTIC] from animals and replace it with [PET] instead. You'll need to regenerate the world for this to take effect, as far as I know.

You don't need to regenerate at all, and I wonder why so many people believe this.
Just take the changes in the save folder.

I have three tigermen cubs in cages, I put [pet] into their raws in the save folder, but still they're not trainable. Would it be because they are part of a civilization?

I think its because you can't train sentients

I'm guessing you messed something up, because Tigerman already HAVE the Pet tag.

Maybe adding it in twice broke them?

Tigermen are notorious pets, and sentients are trainable.

With a little modding, you can make DM a player elected position, and therefor allow for taming of animals without need for changing all those exotic tags.

Replace the defult DM entry with this.

Code: [Select]
[POSITION:DUNGEON_MASTER]
[NAME:dungeon master:dungeon masters]
[SITE]
[NUMBER:1]
[RESPONSIBILITY:TAME_EXOTICS]
[APPOINTED_BY:EXPEDITION_LEADER]
[APPOINTED_BY:MAYOR]
[REQUIRES_POPULATION:60]
[PRECEDENCE:90]
[MENIAL_WORK_EXEMPTION]
[SLEEP_PRETENSION]
[PUNISHMENT_EXEMPTION]
[DO_NOT_CULL]
[COLOR:5:0:0]
[ACCOUNT_EXEMPT]
[DUTY_BOUND]
[DEMAND_MAX:1]
[REQUIRED_BOXES:1]
[REQUIRED_CABINETS:1]
[REQUIRED_RACKS:1]
[REQUIRED_STANDS:1]
[REQUIRED_OFFICE:250]
[REQUIRED_BEDROOM:250]
[REQUIRED_DINING:250]
[REQUIRED_TOMB:250]

As you can see, you will need 60 population for them, but you can change that to your liking.

Didn't somebody try that only to find that they still couldn't tame exotics?

By the way, I design table top RPGs and other games. You can buy some.

I do not recall that being the case, although you may still be correct. Only one way to know!

It's been tried here and lots of other places as well, and it does not work.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

That is rather heart breaking... I wonder why this happens. I will need to try a few tests, but if I had to guess, the presence of a DM is stored as a boolean, and when they arrive this switches over to true, but when they are assigned there is no such function.

I'm almost certain you're correct.  And there's a noexotics tool out there somewhere to make the raw changes for you.

I still wish I could get my DM back, though.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
