We encountered Frances.
A stout warrior who once bested a powerful lord of Pandemonium in combat, gaining control over the demon's realm and thanes. The battle left her with a deep facial scar, one that she carries as a badge of honour rather than a symbol of shame.
I highly doubt her backstory, because she's pathetically weak. Frances has some spells, but it doesn't matter. Let's get this over with.
There. Let's go find Agnes. We have unfinished business with her.
I think I should start using my curare needles on yaktaur captains. Anyway, we gained a level!
We found Agnes. I love being able to use curare freely!
That was anticlimactic.
This is the "Sword in Stone" vault. There's a plain katana laying on top of a teleport trap. Disintergration doesn't work on stone, metal, or crystal walls, so use either Lee's Rapid Deconstruction or Shatter to break the walls. To actually get the sword, just wear an item that blocks teleports. I already have an awesome katana, so I'm just going to ignore it.
Oh, and katanas are going to be removed from the game. Katanas don't spawn anymore, so this will probably be the last time you see them.
That's it for this level. I ID'd a crummy plain deck that I received before moving on.

I never seen these spiders outside of the Spider's Nest. They're weak, poisonous little spiders. I dealt with them quickly.
I found a lot of shops in this playthrough. Too bad most of the items suck.

I only purchased healing potions and a few bad potions.

I magic mapped the level and found the portal nearby. There are a few monsters in my way, so I summoned some help to speed things up.
There's the portal. Getting to it was easy.
Aside from the vendors who've set up their stores at various places in the dungeon, there are others trying to make a living by traveling from place to place. Bazaars feature a number of different shops and often have better stock than the sedentary ones, sometimes even at a bargain. Once you hear the clinking of coins, be sure to hurry up and find the impromptu marketplace before the caravan moves on!
Also be warned that their nomadic lifestyle has taught these sellers to appropriate any items an adventurer might leave behind, and then leave quickly, probably to sell them elsewhere.
Half of them are weapon shops.
I brought the identify and enchant weapon scrolls. I didn't buy anything from the other shops.
I enchanted my katana before I left.
When I returned to the vaults I found a rod laying on the ground.
It's decent. I prefer the ice version.
I started playing with cards in the swamp to gain more piety.
I grew the "Wrath" card, which cause a random god to punish me. Beogh went a little overboard.
The gods should know better by now. Ain't nothing gonna stop dik-dik!
I went back to Elf:5 to end Roxanne's tortured existence.
And to clear out a few more elves.
Curare and steel bullets are very effective against elves. Other useful tactics including: Mass drowning (using Alistair's Intoxication), lots of summons, or using freezing cloud in a corridor.
The elf wearing the black robe is a death mage. Basically, he's a high level necromancer. The demonologist summoned an executioner. It's that baby-headed monstrosity with scythes for limbs. An executioner is a greater demon who is twice as fast as most PCs, tend to haste themselves right away, and hit hard (and often, due to their speed).
I used my rod to dispel it, but I was running low on summoning decks, so I left again.
I decided to stick with a robe of fire resistance for the rest of the game, so I sacrificed my mottled dragon armor. Next stop: the Crypt!
