I got this from the labyrinth. I think I'll wear it for awhile.
I returned to the Elven Halls. I didn't fully explore the 2nd level.
Looks like I should check out that elemental vault.
I dealt with the fire elementals easily. Now, I'm up against molten gargoyles. Gargoyles aren't much of a threat, unless you run into a vault full of them in the early game.
The only dangerous elementals are air elementals. If you run into them early in the game you should get off the level asap!
Why isn't there an iron elemental here? It is an elemental vault afterall.
I skipped the water elemental room... by teleporting into the air elemental room.
Air elementals are fast, can merge with the air (untouchable), can turn invisible, and hit hard. I don't like fighting them.
I hasted myself and ran to the treasure room. The elementalist died before she could do much. The loot was some gold, two artifact spell books, and a staff of summoning. There's nothing in those books that I want to learn, so I sacrificed them.
I already cleared most of this level while trying to return to Elf:2.
We're almost done with this place.
I found this artifact ring of the floor. That's the only notable thing about this level.
This is the last level of the Elven Halls. In 0.8, it was reduced from 7 to 5, so be careful not to rush through this level. Anyway, we encountered Roxanne here.
A beautiful sapphire statue of a famous earth mage who disappeared after a catastrophic spell failure. It is clutching a book.
She's one of the few stationary uniques in the game. And she's single!
Likes: Casting earth spells, such as stone arrow, crystal spear, etc. And trying to get you closer (with translocation spells).
Dislikes: Birds and graffiti artists.
A wand of disintegration doesn't work on her, so don't bother trying. Roxanne is highly resistant to all elemental damage, so use summons, non-elemental conjurations, or a weapon to kill her. I decided to leave her alone for now.
On the opposite side of the level, I ran into Aizul.
Once the primary guardian serpent of a legendary treasure hoard, he was disgraced after thieves looted it while he slept. He now slithers about the dungeon, seeking vengeance against all would-be looters. He is an accomplished spellcaster, but no more deadly in melee combat than others of his kind.
You'll want high MR and rPois if you plan on fighting him. Why? He likes putting enemies to sleep, then spams Poison Arrow, until you die.
I left Aizul's LOS and ID'd an ornate deck of summoning. Afterward, I began drawing cards from my legendary deck of summoning. Card #1 is "The Dance", which summoned a dancing executioner's ax of speed!
Aizul went down quickly, thanks to my awesome deck.
Well, this isn't good. 2 deep elf annihilators (wearing green; has Lehudib's Crystal Spear and Chain Lightning), 2 demonologists (wearing purple; has Summon Greater Demon and Banishment), and 2 sorcerers (wearing red; has Hellfire and Banishment).
Blademasters are the only spell-less melee elves in this branch. They're faster than us, hit hard, and wield two short blades at once. I hasted myself and read a teleport scroll. Then, I kept summoning monsters until my teleport kicked in.
Looks like I'm safe. I think I'll leave this place for now.
