Rebuild Community Game
« on: February 19, 2011, 12:01:54 pm »

This is, in escence, a community game of the Flash game, Rebuild, in which we must reclaim a town from Zombies. Yay. To start the game, we need 5 things;

City Name:
City Size: 10x10/12x12
Leader Name:
Leader Gender:
Difficulty: Easy/Normal/Hard/Harder/Nightmare

Fill in that sheet, and we can start.

And a 12/12 size of course.

Also, I request that you win the 4 different endings at the same time.

INTRO SEQUENCE

The media called it the Dutch Flu, and connected it to some kind of wierd tulip eating cult. The Netherlands used to export a quater of the world's tomatoes and cucumbers, but taht wasn't all. They were exporting the undead. Armageddon.

During that first year, survivors banded together to fend off the zombies, always staying on the move and never looking back. But we're not going to run anymore. We're putting our feet down here and we're reclaim this place in the name of Dwarf.. Today... we begin to rebuild.

Welcome to Boatmurdered... or what used to be Boatmurdered. We've secured 4 City Blocks against the Zombies outside, but we're running out of food and there's no telling how long the defences will hold. There are 10 of us with a mix of skills. Our goal is to drive the undead from the rest of the city and reclaim it, one building at a time.

Didn't I mention that people need to eat? Running out of food is going to piss us off, and worst case people stop working, leave the city or even starve to death. Send someone to scavenge for food or reclaim a farm so we have something to eat.

Notice the smiley face up there? Our people are 25% happy right now. You'll want to keep that above 30% (Oh shit.), or later on people will get uppity and refuse to work, or worse. Build churches and bars to make people happier.

Every building does something different. Before we can use one, we need to clear out all the zombies and then reclaim it. Click on a building to send our survivors on a mission there.

That's our position... not very good. Low food, low morale...

We have 40 Defence, and 20 Zombies in the vicinity, giving us a 0% Danger.

Leaders (Bonus in Persuasion missions)

Urist

Scavengers (Bonus in Scavenging missions)

Antonie Anderson
Carter Williams

Soldiers (Bonus in Killing missions and backup)

"Coach" Diaz
Lance Parker
Captain (Guarding the fort)

Builders (Bonus in Building and Reclaiming missions)

Carrie Murray

Scientists (Bonus in Research missions)

Nurse Perry

Survivors (Can be taught at schools or on missions)

Alan Mark
May Northway

We have space for 2 more survivors.
There is a survivor in the XXOR Gas next to the Police Station.

We have 1 food, which produces 4 food per day.
We are losing 6 food per day.
There is some food in both XXORs next to our fort, the Apartments netx to our fort and the Motel next to our fort.

Where should we send our men?

Can I be Lance Parker?

We should send our leader recruits the survivor (I'll escort him if the risk is higher than 10%). The soldiers will kill the zombies in that park, so we can eventually reclaim it to turn in into a field (Maybe take the survivors along to train them?). Just send the scavengers scouting the areas and grabbing some food.

I'm afraid that we don't get to rename the survivors I believe. ;)

In any case, for Nightmare mode, early expansion is *crucial*. If you don't expand quickly enough and get survivors, you're dead meat. That and you need a whole shitload of scouting to scavenge food to make sure you don't starve out either. It's brutal.

In any case, I would be taking May Northway whom I'm assuming to be female.

My suggestions: check out all facilities, reclaim all areas that you can reclaim right now. Send your leader out to recruit the survivor if below 15%. And everyone else go on a scouting rampage :D

Maybe we should focus on getting that bar first, for the morale boost?

Oh God Nightmare Mode.  I spent a week (a week) using all of my free time to throw myself at it, and never figured out the secret to success.  It's brutal to an unfair level.  Good luck.

Nah, we still have 25 morale right now. Of course, if we don't get a hospital soon, we're going to have some ugly RNG killing our morale down, but morale about that much should still last around fifteen days or so.

In my opinion, the secret to success expand as quickly as you can, get around 16~20 buildings within the shortest period amount of time, research stuff at the lab while holding them off then move out to start clearing them out. Or that's what I think, xD.

My best game was when I started with two large farms, a lab, a hospital, an apartment and another police station bordering me. That makes things such easier.

Yeah mostly it is expanding to a certain point then taking it slow.

As good as Hoards are they usually pose a threat to you only because they double the strength of the threat you have all around you.

Urist and Lance Parker are being sent to recruit the survivor. 5% Danger

We haven't heard from Survivor Alan Mark since he left on that scouting mission. He's late getting back, very late... I'm afraid he's not going to make it this time. (+1 RIP -5 Morale) -Urist

I scouted the Warehouse; there's a ot of food still in there for the taking, though I don't know how long it will last. -Carter Williams

I scouted the Office; there's a ot of food still in there for the taking, though I don't know how long it will last. -Antonie Anderson

I saw a camp at the Suburb that had been recently used. I bet there's at least one person staying there, could be more. -May Northway

Stop wasting a soldier guarding the fort.  They need to be out there in the danger zone.  Have the nurse guard the fort for now.

Take that apartment building ASAP, we need space to hold more people if this fort is going to be viable.  Once we have that housing, we need to convert one of those suburbias to farmland, there just wont be enough food to scavenge for very long.  We can then expand to the trailer park to hold a larger population.
