No, I'm going to need you in the fight against Venice.  I'm building up your forces specifically to siege Ragusa ((I think that's the castle they have, not 100%)) right now.

CURSE YOU POPE!!!  RUINING ALL MY PLANS!!!

In other news, this'll be a 4 turn post, because I'm a tad bit busy with other projects, but oh well, I still have some stuff to talk about.

What didn't he do? Crusade, excommunication, crazy mandates demands, ordering you to stop fighting someone when you have them down to one settlement and then threatening you with excommunication if you don't...

He's the useless noble of Medieval II.

1. Build him a deathtrap! Position an assassin beside him and save.
2. Savescum
3. ? ? ? deploy the ninjas.
4. Profit! Less annoying Pope.

I was so confident going into that list, but it didn't really turn out.

Savescumming doesn't work, the Total War games are weird like that. I prefer just to kill him the old fashioned way until one of my Cardinals becomes pope, then bribe him whenever he gets irritateing, which is usually just when he's angry about Catholic on Catholic war. I'm happy for Crusade missions, even ones that make me send my faction leader, Gives me a large upkeepfree army and good mercs that can just travel towards the crusade attacking all non catholic cities in the way.

You've noticed that too? Seems like Savescumming only makes the outcomes worst for some reason. *Shrug* Though why they would go through all that trouble instead of, say, coding a decent AI, I have no idea.

Well logicly makeing it so Savescumming doesn't work takes work itself, otherwise every game that has 20 ways to do something less effectively once you fail something else would do it, since players just savescum anyway.

Option making me quit fighting right after I started a siege.

the worst thing is when the enemy starts a siege on your province, and the pope warns YOU to stop fighting. So you have to decide between losing your city or be excommunicated...

But nothing's better than seeing a French pope excommunicate France because they've broken so many 'stop fighting' orders against me.

When that happens the enemy usually gets the same order.
