Trailer feels like Heavy Rain for some reason... Graphics? Music?
Probably just the rediculously well laid out storyline in the trailer.

Awsome trailer but honestly the game isn't looking to be that good.

The trailer is just pure hype though since the actual game is nothing like that trailer.

Heck a game where you fight zombies on an island that used to be a tourist area where you get to see the tragic outcome of often good and happy people could make a good game. Too bad this isn't one of those games.
As much as I don't believe the gameplay will be appropriate to the trailer, how do you come to the conclusion that you won't see a ruined tourist area with bodies everywhere? That's sort of what the screenshots show.

What I'm curious about is how the RPG elements will play out and how the freeform nature will work with the 4 people co-op.

My only issue with this trailer is they OBVIOUSLY animated it backwards instead of animating it forwards and then rewinding it. Dx

It's awesome other than that but once you look at the animations and realise how the majority of them look line forward animations it kinda... Ruins it. :(
I dunno. I thought the chronological version looked right. I'm not even sure how someone would go about animating human motion backwards rather than doing it the easy way.

That looks right, but they've changed certain bits to flow in a certain way. Watching the original trailer, it just looks odd with the interaction between parents and kid.

I would like the trailer if it actually reflected the atmosphere of the game. Apparently it's going to be a regular albeit much more realistic/difficult FPS melee inspired zombie killing game. It kind of reminds me of those quite pretentious Halo Reach adverts, with all the sad, solemn piano music and concentration on soldiers dying for whatever cause, when really it was just another Halo game about noscope plasma nading some blue aliens.

Don't get me wrong, the trailer's really invoking, but I just don't think it is a good window into the idea of the game. The only similarities I could define was that there are zombies and it's on an island.

Ofcourse, they may have changed the idea of the game, but from back when I first heard about this, it sounded pretty standard fare.

Holy smokes. JUST watched the trailer myself, and came running here to see if anyone has posted about it yet....
that was really cool...
I think they'll get my money from the trailer alone....

The trailer looks mostly right forwards, although I thought the girl didn't get thrown with nearly enough force to fly out that window, especially when you consider those windows are generally designed not to break.  As one of the commenters said, should've double-glazed that window.

Who said there won't? However I said "Gameplay" not "Visuals"

Um. How is this not a game where you fight zombies in a former tourist area (among other places) and see the tragic outcome of often good and happy people? I don't understand. Do you mean like that it doesn't have you following the life of these people from arrival to zombie outbreak?

No the game is quite clear that it is you just arriving on the island after it already turned into nothing but zombies.

Well ignoring that everyone is dead at the end of the trailer...

There is also the other Dead Island video... also the fact that it is called "Dead Island"

Uh.
I'm pretty sure that that doesn't prove you start the game with everyone zombies but you.

The game is supposed to allow freeform travel around the island, from what I understand. Wouldn't be much point in going anywhere (but the nearest ship/boat/piece of wood) if everyone's dead, I think. Chances are there'll be NPCs holed up in some places. Or at the very least the game could leave enough information (visual or otherwise) to get a better idea of what happened in the given area.

Ok I should make it clear that it isn't that I doubt there are still humans... but more that the island is already zombie overridden. Your not starting off with increasing amounts of zombies.

Either way the second trailer is fancy but doesn't represent gameplay. Especially since it is a first person shooter.

We have two videos, some screenshots, and some game info from before it went vaporware.  Everything is speculation at this point.

I think it's a little silly to say that there's not going to be anyone left alive though, the screenshots clearly show several uninfected people.

Also I vaguely remember something about gangstas on the island who had survived, and the player could buy guns and stuff from them.  I may have imagined that though.
