Alright, I decided to just play through the first year now.
First we build some basic infrastructure. Well, the Infirmary isn't really a base need, but I built it anyway.
Migrants have arrived.
I go and expand the initial block a bit, adding an agora to distribute goods. Or at least food. Once we get some food.
I also switched into windowed mode here. I hope you don't mind.I add a second area, cordoned off with roadblocks it'll be more notable soon enough. Right now, it's just a maintenance office and a granary. As you can see, the immigrants are moving towards the housing plots.
Now, moving to the upper-left corner, I put two dairies here and a granary. The maintenance office is there so nothing will get damaged and collapse.
And this is what will happen: The dairies will make cheese and send it to the nearby granary. The far away granary will then send deliverymen to
get said cheese. And then the foor vendor from the agora can purchase said cheese and sell it to our people.
People have immigrated to our city and built their homes. We have people available to do jobs now! Look at that man on the road: He's a superintendent and makes sure buildings don't collapse or burn down.
We have goats. We have goatherds. All is good with the world.
Indeed, nothing but joyous news abound.
We now have a source of fish. That's one of our goals now made possible! We don't really have anything to sell to them, though.
The shantytown expands...
So Minos of Knossos has found out about us. Fuck off old yak, this land is ours now.
See that little guy with a yellow shield around the Sea of Crete? He is an "Enemy army marching towards your city". And here we are, with no military, no way to raise an army, not even walls. Just a bunch of huts. How can we possibly win?
Let's pass some time...
Yeah, usually you can lose once and just be made a vassal and forced to pay tribute, but this time I either win, or lose the game. See that middle option there?
Bribing the enemy may be dishonorable and cowardly, but it's the only way not to get a game over.
Some good news arrive, as well.
Another trading partner! Completely useless, but at least they won't attack us.
UH
OH
I guess old Minos really has it in for us.
He really does.
Noooo Stostonikos! Why did you have to go near the minotaur?
Our cheese production is finally kicking into gear. The goats have grazed long enough to be milked. Is this not what every man aspires for? Cheese!
Worst. Invasion. Ever.
Oh hey, that's our fleece goal possible, and our housing goal also possible because homesteads require food, water, culture and fleece and we can now provide all those things.
We can build trading posts and trade with our allies. Should we do so, though? We have no way of earning money right now. It might be better to just give a lot of surplus cheese away and then request fish and fleece instead.
Anyway, that's the conclusion of the year 800 BC. Later on we'll take things in smaller chunks, maybe, but as it is there's not many decisions to make. Feel free to complain now. Examples of things to complain about would be how long this post is and how little I actually wrote.
Houses - We have plenty.
Goatherds - Six out in the field.
Goats - Quite a flock, but threatened by the minotaur.
Gay Sex - Being implemented. Our population shall be sustained by immigration.
