Goblins killing themselves now?
« on: February 18, 2011, 12:15:46 am »

I just find this kind of funny, I was checking around legends and I noticed something odd. There appeared to be a massive amount of creatures born in year 3 and dying in year 4. I decided to check through them (and there were pages). It appears a goblin civilization stole like 30-40 babies from random places and then do to the increase in population nearly every single one died of starvation, including most of the goblins. It appears the goblins are genociding themselves now trying to feed all our babies.

there is an image of the goblin Utes Gozrusrozsnus and dwarves in elf bone. The goblin is making a plaintive gesture. the dwarves are striking a menacing pose.

This makes sense, actually. Goblins don't farm, and Toady hasn't gotten around to coding any alternate way for them to get food yet, so they currently don't eat. As far as I know, that won't carry over to snatched babies, so they're doomed to starve. No idea why the goblins themselves would starve, though.

An interesting way to fix the problem would be to make it so that the goblins kidnap children, not to raise them as their own, but to eat them.

Huh, a lot of people said goblin civs were extinct in all their games.  Maybe this is why?

That's what DF needs, The gutbuster brigade.  Screw that elf and his cat. Thibbledorf Pwent is the real hero.

Maybe the food-requiring babies change the food requirements of the entire civ, leading the game to select members from that civ regardless of individual food requirements to die of starvation?

What I think. Also it's hilarious. I get rid of babies and goblins, two birds with one stone.
