What does the upgraded cube and the upgrade chip do?

Go to a league office to get the chip Identified. Look for anyone selling toy guns.

An upgraded cube is a cube that creates consistently better Objecticon than a normal cube.
The upgrade chip is the same as the ones the Prof. gave you. You don't know what type it is, but you could find out at a clinic/shop/league office.

Wallace goes back inside to get the chip identified. After inspecting the chip for a moment, the clerk tells him that it is an endurance upgrading chip.
Wallace then goes out to look for a place selling toy guns. Nirur and Kaguro follow, having nothing better to do.
They find a place nearby that looks like a toy shop of some sort.

Nat: "So, do you want to fight the boss?"
Furtuka: "Weren't we going to go find that Treecon first?"
Nat: "Maybe. Nirur and Kaguro have already agreed."
Furtuka: "Well- Oh hey! Look at that hit, he's so not getting up after that!"

The snake ducks and weaves, avoiding the fire! Mack is looking tired, his endurance being drained from keeping up the elemental attack!
The snake strikes his leg, opening a nasty gash! Mack falls over, and his shield deactivates!

Mack: "Okay, I give! Wow, that went pretty much the same way as my fight with Dan. Anyway, here's that bet we agreed on."
He hands Furtuka 50 M.
"See ya, I should get this cut looked at"

The group is in Burance.

If you guy's want to have conversations, go ahead. Otherwise, dialogue's going to take forever.

That's right. It'll also amp up your resistance to said bolts, and other electrical attacks.
