Prof. C: "An UPGRADE CHIP is a chip you put in a cube to make your objecticon stronger, of faster, or WHATEVER. Unfortunately, I myself only have chips for strength, speed, and endurance. A TAMING CHIP is what you use to tame ANIMALS that you trap in a cube. Like this guy."
He pats the cage and the rodent squeaks and runs in a circle.
"They come in small or large, I have BOTH. I'll let you have two chips of your choice."

I ask him how to use the Data Chip I take one taming and one speed chip

I take a pair of speed chips, and use them to improve Sudsy's cube.

I take a pair of large speed chips, and use them to improve Sudsy's cube. If large chips won't fit, then I'll use smalls instead.

I think I botched the explanation a bit.
He has five kinds of chips: strength, speed, endurance, tame small creature, and tame large creature. All chips are the same size.

Take a taming chip for the turtle and a endurance chip to use on the lobster

Furtuka grabs a speed chip, and a small taming chip.
Furtuka: "Hey Prof, could you look at this for me?"
He looks over the data chip for a moment, then hands it back.
Prof C: "That's a DATA chip, just pop it in an EMPTY cube and whatever's on it will be useable. This one looks like an IMAGE file."

Kaguro stares at the chips for a moment, before taking two strength chips and pocketing them.
Nirur immediately grabs a couple of speed chips and pops them into Sudsy's cube.
Wallace takes an endurance chip for the lobster, and a large taming chip for the turtle. He pops them into each cube, and the turtles capture light changes from orange to green.

Prof C: "Oh, you have a TURTLE? That's pretty good, but I should warn you that ANIMALS work a little DIFFERENTLY. Ken, you should listen too."
He opens the cage, and picks up the rodent. Turning it over, he points to an indentation on its stomach.
Prof C: "For a normal OBJECTICON you slide the chip into its cube and it gets stronger. You can do the same for an ANIMAL, but you can ALSO insert a CUBE directly into the ANIMAL'S SLOT. This changes the animal, making it MORE POWERFUL."

As the Prof is talking, Nat picks out a pair of chips, strength and speed, and inserts them into her marblecon.
Prof C: "Some animals have MULTIPLE SLOTS, meaning that they can be upgraded MORE than animals with less slots. Animals can be upgraded like this EVEN if they are not in a CUBE."
The Prof hands the rodent to Ken. His eyes cloud over for a moment, but then he snaps around and does back into the closet.
Prof C: "Just a minute, I also have something ELSE for all of you. I forgot to GIVE it to you BEFORE you left."
