I've started to work on "cavemen"-style graphics set:

An idea: slings for bows and slingshots for crossbows :D.

Haha - they remind me of Joe and Mac. Couple of Caveman from an awesome SNES series. :D

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I've been wanting to play an aboveground fort for a while, and I think this might just be what I need.
Also, there are still bone weapons/armor, right?

"Bull" body added

10:56

Sabertoothed Tiger is way out of the right timeline here
Researched a few new animals. (Moose, Wolf, Beaver, Deer, Hare, Otter, Red Squirrel, Seals, Pike, Salmon, Carp, Bone Fish, Duck)

11:20
Rabbit Modified
Hare Added
Deer Modified
Antelope Added

11:22
Considering how players will now pretty much need to live next to a river, these three are just too troublesome to be kept in, till the "Running away from X" is fixed, with said creatures.
Removed Carp
Removed Long-Nosed Gar
Removed Pike
Removed Sturgeon
Removed Lamprey
Removed Milkfish
11:26
Hurr. I've always wondered what the difference between a Moose and Elk is.

There isn't one. Elk is already added in.

11:47
Beaver Added

11:55
Otter Added

12:29
Searching for Clay to see how it all works, then to test body paint.

Didn't find it. However, found this pretty awesome location (Second set).

I just genned a pocket world, year 250...

Everybody is dead. The villages are completely empty. No wonder there weren't any factions to join! (All were "Outsider").

According to Legends, everybody died in the first generation. Hehe, oops. I guess they really do rely on Farming (A little bit too much, anybody?)

I'll think about this in the future. I'll probably add very few basic crops (If not just the one), just to keep people alive in Adventure mode.

Moose (aka "Elk")
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8b/Moose_superior.jpg

Elk (aka "Wapiti")
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Rocky_Mountain_Bull_Elk.jpg

Moose have pretty ugly looking faces while Elk are pretty much large deer.

edit: Well... I feel kinda dumb now around you Europeans and your Moose elks. I never knew Elks and Moose were the same things in Europe.

Moose

Elk
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/Rocky_Mountain_Bull_Elk.jpg

Moose have pretty ugly looking faces while Elk are pretty much large deer.

And so I come across my first Wikipedia Lie.

Pretty obvious, when you think about it. I've seen an Elk, I've seen a Moose. :| Shows the persuasive power of Wikipedia doesn't it, really?

And my own foolhardiness, evidently :P

Quote from: Wikipedia
The moose (North America) or Eurasian elk (Europe) (Alces alces) is the largest extant species in the deer family.

Edit;

I think the mix up here is how the Wikipedia Editors didn't point out they're two different breeds/subfamilies, possibly? Bah...

what americans call moose is an eurasian and north-american animal that in the rest of the world is known as elk, what americans call elk is an exclusively north-american animal that in the rest of the world is know as wapiti. the wikipedia pages explain it, maybe not in the header, but in the part dedicated to the name's etymology

Before telling that somebody lies, I would suggest to re-read what you just wrote.

Even while I am not a native english speaker, it's pretty obvious to me that it reads this way:
The moose (North America) or Eurasian elk (Europe) (Alces alces) is the largest extant species in the deer family.

So yeah, it's "the moose" for americans or "elk" for europe, and it's in fact "Alces alces".

And it IS a single creature.

I don't know how could you read it backwards :/.

What you call "elk" we call "wapiti" as Askot said.

There are many domestic plants from this period; rice, mazie, wine had already been made, wheat, barley, peas, lentils, flax... Of course, many of these crops would be unfitting for the setting, but having a modest variety of crops would be entirely sensible.

They could be decreased in importance by making them less efficient: decreasing yields, increasing growdur to be most of a season, making them grow only during summer and spring or fall, making them require cooking, milling, and leaf processing should all work.

Oh, the kiln and stuff is in, right? Clay was huge. I just tried out a mainly-clay fortress, and it worked perfectly, and I'd expect a neolithic fortress to be made of adobe.

remember we're talking about 5000bc britain, just because it was used in the middle east by 80000bc doesn't mean it fits here

Got a couple extra zeros there, but yeah, I'm thinking of the Neolithic period, not the Mesolithic one. Oops.

I don't know... do elves need farms? If not, just make humans into forest builders.
