Somewhere in history a dwarven lass became wed to a backward freak, I assume.

When I hear the world 'Backward Freak' I imagine a pale, emaciated type creature who crawls along the ground upside-down on all fours, like a spider.

Because that's the kind of image a dwarf wants on a cabinet.  :o

When a night creature converts a normal creature into a spouse, it retroactively changes their race in all descriptions. If you export information from Legends Mode and look through historical figures, especially with high night creature to available area ratio, you'll find a fair number of them are converted spouses.

Sorry to say she probably wasn't a night creature spouse at the time she ascended. The Umbral Citadel sounds like a night creature's idea of a good name for a civ, though.

Even better, we were at war with the elves on embark.

I'd love to set the mood by making a dark, evil themed fort, but what with the beekeeping and sheep shearing it feels more like the Good Life.

Also the total lack of any veins of anything.

Backward Freak Wife?  I think that was an old rap song.   8)

EDIT:  Now that I think about it, I think that was a porno film.

Why did you bring politics into this? It was completely unnecessary.

Just mod your sheep.  Is an ewe too wimpy?  Make their hooves into spikes, their eyes hollow and empty, and their horns made of fire (even the females!) and emit a deadly miasma instead of bleating.

A backward freak wife? What is this I don't even
A.) A backward freak is probably a type of night creature. Thus, a backward freak wife is a creature that was transformed by a backward freak.
B.) Given the way that the game stores events, it's possible that the backward freak wife became queen before being transformed. Probable, in fact.
