Grass, in my fortress?
« on: February 17, 2011, 10:46:18 am »

It's more likely than you think...
It's growing in my fort.

Is there any way I can make it stop?

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

It's a known bug. I don't think so, aside from maybe grazing your animals on it or putting down a stone floor or something.

The problem is that a new grass tile also acts as a source of grass. So yeah. Just build dirt roads.

So, If I paved over my entrance hallway, it would stop grass from spawing there, and thus, stop it from spawning in my fort?

Grass shouldn't even be growing inside, maybe theres a problem in the raws.
Edit: Is it [PLANT:CAVE MOSS], or [PLANT:FLOOR FUNGI] ?
working as intended i believe.

The problem is that aboveground grass grows indoors in soil.
It's a bug.

As far as I'm concerned, it's a feature. And why get rid of it? It's indoor grass upon which your livestock may graze.

And that is supposed to exist, but for the sake suspension of disbelief if nothing else I'd rather it were cave moss than cattails.  :P

Second this, cave moss instead.  It's fitting.

Not if the tile is exposed.

Confirming that surface grass grows on unexposed, subterranean soil tiles.
