This is really tin foil hat material. Plus China improved from the Great Leap Forward. In fact, the current policies of the CCP are antithesis to Mao's method of thinking. Mao isn't given some sort of ghost seat in the CCP, and people don't venerate him unless they live in the country side. Please read up on history, from a book. Yes, Post 1956 Mao was an asshole, but that doesn't mean he always was an asshole. He didn't even know people were starving during the great leap forward, since the farmers exaggerated their numbers.

Actually, since I'm thinking about the hypothetical situation now, there would be way more riots over declaring Canada a single superstate than anything else. We've got ten very separate provinces and three territories, and to just casually call Canada one big state would be incredibly insensitive. At the very least, each province/territory would have to be inducted as a state on their own.

To be especially stickly, "United States of America" would still be a perfectly fine name.  It comes from the continent after all.  If the US, Canada, and Mexico all became one country, it would The United States of America, with a red/white/green/blue striped flag, decorated by an eagle eating a snake, in the middle of a maple leaf, surrounded by 94 stars (and there'd be two federal districts).

I think Nationalism is pointless. We're specks, living on a speck, which is orbiting a speck, which is one of many specks in a larger speck, and so on until you get up to the 'voids and filaments' structures (Voids of empty space, filaments of galaxy superclusters). We should just focus on getting off this dirtball.
