ok, please tell me you guys can make dwarf companion make dwarves fight other dwarve son sight....to make a sort of split turn based game on your computer.
Very easy to do, you can set any dwarves you want as being hostile, zombies, from another civ, etc, etc.
But you still won't be able to control the hostile dwarves.

couldnt you make dwarves hostile to only one type of thing? like religon, or something?
Not at all, Dwarf Companion is still a pretty simple tool, and I don't think them being hostile to religions is even in the game yet.

Can anyone help me? This is very frustrating.

I'm trying to get DF Companion to work, and after getting pissed off at the executable version, I jumped through all the Python-related hoops to get the Python version working. Then I jumped through the hoops the bloody stupid command promp (I hate the damn command prompt) to get to launch DF, and it... Tells me not just a lie but a damned lie.

It's saying DF isn't running, which it obviously is. It's a little like walking up to a guy with a pot of sphagetti sauce in your hands, upending it above his head, and then telling him that he hasn't got any sauce on him at all. So I'm assuming that what it means is that it can't find DF.

How do I fix this?

You're using 40d12 or something other than vanilla 40d, right?  That there's your problem.  Dwarf Companion searches for a process named dwarfort.exe and the newer versions are named Dwarf Fortress.exe instead.  Renaming won't make it work however.

It's 40d11.

Is there any way to make it work?

Even if it did start up with 40d11 chances are that it wouldn't work correctly, or at all, memory addresses and such have changed between 40d and now.

Well, you can cheat.

Install 40d into another location and juggle the saves around, since those are still compatible ATM.  Do whatever you need to do in 40d, save it, then load it back up in 40d#-whatever.

Since 40d# changes so often right now, that's likely to be the only option, since going through the effort of hacking the memory now will likely be negated when the next iteration comes down.

Can Dwarf Companion be used to change the average temperature of an embark location after starting?

No, Dwarf Companion only changes creatures so far.
Infact, I don't believe there is currently a tool to change the entire embark, the most you can do is manually change each tile with a tool called Tweak.

Actually, Tweak has a not-known-well-enough addon called for each tile which can edit every single tile on the map all at once.

It still only works with 40d and earlier, though, and you'll need to do some extra work to get for each tile to function.

Thank you very much, I had read about this after a forum search for easier tile editing, but was never able to find it.

As it has been said, it is much easier to use the for each tile thingie. However, it should not be too hard to script the temperature change (based on the reveal script).

What do I need to get DC using more than four languages, and what would the problem be with allowing DC to use the maximum amount by default?

Using 40d with the v0.15 package.

Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I hardcoded the value, and this was not a great idea. Find the line with "for race in range(4):" and edit that value, that should work (I hope).

I read through the topic and the only dwarfdbg file I have is one that spews random symbols at me when open it with Notepad. If I have to install Python then I'll just make the orcs speak goblin.

*edit* Assuming that works.

Argh I didn't read you were using the package ... then there is no clean solution I'm afraid :(
