Re: Dwarf Companion - 0.17d out, 30/11/2009 [update for D16 WINDOWS, modded lang

thanks to this tool i made many interesting discoveries, the last one:
the number of items worked into an artifact is related to the level of the used skill.
how i found out:
I removed the hadmood tag from a dwarf, that dwarf (legendary engraver +4) got into a mood and required 10 items!

I've noticed some correlation there, just playing the game.  I do think there's some random factor, but a more experienced dwarf almost always seems to use more items than a less experienced dwarf.

I'd say it has more to do with how advanced the game is, but I'd have to check.

I have similar problems.  I can not find the python version anywhere.  None of the exe versions will work for me.

I keep thinking glacier fortress would be fun, but it always ends up as cave layer fortress.

It is my fault. I will restore the links ASAP.

Sorry, I'm working on the next version and will publish some good new links ASAP. If possible I'll release a DFHack version, which should be much better for everyone else.

No need to be sorry, the guy above is just impatient :P But keep up all the good work.

I have something working : you can inspect creatures, alter *some* stats. Other functionnalities are not supported yet (stuff like instamood for example).

Mood control is minimal : only mood type and skill are editable now.

Next week I'll try to move to DFHack and start hacking from here in order to mutualize efforts.

I moved to DFHack and C++. Here is a shot of the early prototype : .

This will allow me to create a tool that is faster, easier to port and update when versions changes, and with less dependencies.

Today I added support for filtering the output by only displaying your race / civ / everything. Next stop is the creature details display and I'll be able to release an alpha, with no editing options for now, but most displaying options.

Good work, can't wait to test it.

Right now you can browse you creature and watch their skills / attributes. I'd like to release something soon, but I'm not sure what people will want. What's your favorite feature that you would like in it ? I won't have time to add much.

No need to rush anything out, the current state of DF needs a few more bugfixes anyway. But I use the program most to edit tantrums to materials to which I own.

I'm unsure what the program does currently, as I've not used it since way back... but I would *love* something where I could edit how hurt a dwarf or creature is, for testing and play reasons. I don't use such hacks a lot, but it'd be nice if I wanted to do a mega project, and a titan showed up or something, to be able to... 'take care' of the problem. :D

The Elves were beautiful, Mistral Thrax admitted, in and elvish way, but it was his belief that the gods grew disappointed after a time because the elves -- being elves -- were essentially decorative but not particularly functional. They were content simply to live long lives and to exist. They did not nothing of any real value, in the opinion of Mistral Thrax."
