Lure the thing to a town you don't particularly like, play hide 'n' seek until the villagers take notice of it committing mass murder, and take it on while it's distracted, or collect some loot from the ex-villagers.

I created a World and made your typical UristMcMurderbeard adventurer, I wandered the world endlessly, looking for signs of life, there were none, the entire world was empty, the legends only show my adventurer, I retire him and pick him up again, I find a dark fortress and climb to the top, the only thing there is a single goblin, missing both eyes. Wasn't even hostile, he just kept 'staring' up at the sky.

Deleted the world.

Go down as deep into the caverns as you can, until you find one of the temples with legendary weapons.  These are more than strong enough to kill bronze colossi, but it'll take a good bit of lumberjack work even so.  Just don't stick around after you take the weapon, and remember to have Fun.

Where on earth do you find real caverns in adventure mode?

I've been playing for dozens of hours and have never found anything deeper than the basic lairs, which don't go down at all. I'd love to explore a real cavern in Adventure mode, but have never found such an entrance.

Dig such an entrance in fortress mode and use it.

If you find a cave enterance, that isnt site named it will often go down to the cavern layer, I've found at least 3 with my current adventurer.

At which point you can wander around until you find a downward passage.

Sadly, the one time I've managed to find a cave down to the caverns (and didn't get slaughtered on the way there), the bloody thing was flooded. Did have fun kicking some draltha ass, though.

Nope, iron and bronze are both about the same (there might be some small differences but it's hard to tell), and they will both bounce off armor of the other type.  You need something harder than bronze to kill a colossus, which in a vanilla game means steel.  Easiest way to get a steel weapon is to find a dwarf with a weapon you like, recruit them, and get them killed by the colossus or other nasty and . . . I just realized that since dwarf sites don't exist at the moment we may have a problem here.

Well, there's always the hard way.  You're going on a quest.  Go down as deep into the caverns as you can, until you find one of the temples with legendary weapons.  These are more than strong enough to kill bronze colossi, but it'll take a good bit of lumberjack work even so.  Just don't stick around after you take the weapon, and remember to have Fun.

Actually what I did was build a fortress for my adventurer. It did nothing but mass produce steel armor and weapons.
When they fell to the first goblin raid while still working the forges (like all true dwarves die) I sent my adventurer in to claim all the superior steel gear, get revenge, then go colossus hunting.

Best part is, you skills get trained up in the process of getting your gear.

Does anyone know how common those underground shrines are, or how to find them in Legends maybe so that you have some hope of navigating to one, instead of just finding one randomly by wandering the caverns with no fast travel?
