Cook it.

Err. The game won't let me do that.

EDIT: Oops, apparently honey counts as a liquid. Sorry, I've got it now.

But there also seems to be an option to make mead out of honey. However I can't seem to get it activated.

I noticed that as well while trolling through the raws.  It appears you need one thing of honey, one thing holding honey (ie, both of these combine to mean you need one jug of honey) along with an empty barrel.  It will then produce a thing of mead into the barrel.  So, make sure you have a full jug of honey and an empty barrel.

I have all that. Jugs with honey in them and a lot of spare barrels.

Clearly now all we need added are dogs with bees in their mouths and when they bark they shoot bees at you. Thus we can release them along with the dogs & bees themselves when unwelcome guests come to your fortress.

And then lock the door.

I bursted out laughing so hard at this that my dog woke up, came in the room, and looked at me like I'm an idiot.

Then proceeded to brag about how he has 27 kills on his kill list and is super-doggenly tough.

Hmm, I wonder if pet value is on a caste level... I would hate to use an exploit, but I would hate to miss out of beeeeeeeeeeees, so maybe if I mod all workers to have 0 pet value, and upp the value of queens to compensate, the value of a hive would bee more predictable.

Remove the token from the creature, and add individual tokens for the castes.  I've done this to add gender-specific tags, like adding (M) and (F) to the ends of names, using the caste name token.

Apparently, there's so many bees, it's irrelevant.  Let them be killed, there's another dozen hives in the back.

Now, if hives can be linked to a lever, and deconstruct on demand...

Ah, but the answer is right here in this thread!

I just did this:

1. Build a hive.
2. Build a cage.
3. The beekeeper goes to get bees.
4. After the beekeeper has bees, but before they are put in the hive, assign bees to the cage.
5. Bees are put in cage.

You now have free money. A cage worth ~10000 dwarfbucks, full of beeeeees!

Just add step #6: "Link cage to lever."  Now you have BEES ON DEMAND!
Time to add #7: PROFIT... wait. Already did that in step #0 : "have bees -> ~10000☼"
