Okay, one more time.
A couple of years ago I posted
this guide for game settings if you want to play singleplayer. Over time I've tweaked the settings that I personally play on to the point that there are some important differences between that original post and what I now consider to be more balanced and ideal game settings. I might not have made this new post except that I still get people messaging me about the original and I'll occasionally recieve awards on it (I recieved another one right before writing this). The problem is that those original settings are kind of bad. They were a good starting point but they really needed some refinement before I was able to truly forget about the game settings altogether and actually play the game.
So without further adieu, and in the interest of helping new players who may stumble across that original post, here are my ideal game settings to play and enjoy singleplayer. As per last time, these settings are used on a PS4 so I don't have any recommendations for mods and I don't have access to the ini files.
I'm only going to list the settings that I change, so anything not listed below should stay at the default.
Under General settingsDifficulty - 1.0
Player Resistance - 0.5
XP Multiplier - 12
Taming speed - 0.5 1.0 (changed to accommodate for passive tames)
Dino Harvesting Damage - 2
Harvest Amount - 3
Dino Character Food Drain - 10
Dino Character Health Recovery - 2
Player Harvesting Damage - 0.5 (this makes it take longer to harvest things by hand/with tools, encourages harvesting with tames. Increase if you don't like that)
And make sure to check the checkboxes for "Maximum Difficulty", "Disable Structure Placement Collision", and "Allow Multiple Platform Floors".
(And don't check the box for "singleplayer settings" because it'll actually screw everything up.)
Under Advanced settingsCheck the boxes for "Non Permanent Diseases" and "Override Structure Platform Prevention"
Structure Prevent Resource Radius Multiplier - 0.2
Poop Interval - 20
Lay Egg Interval - 0.5
Mating Interval - 0.1
Egg Hatch Speed - 11
Baby Mature Speed - 50
Harvest Health - 5
Baby Cuddle Interval Multiplier - 0.012
Baby Cuddle Grace Period Multiplier - 2
Baby Imprinting Scale Multiplier - 1.5
Day Cycle Speed - 2
Spoiling Time - 3
No Resource Radius Players - 0.5
No Resource Radius Structures - 0.2
Crop Growth Speed - 3
Crop Decay Speed - 3
"Wild Dino Stats Per Level" Health - 2
"Tamed Dino Stats Per Level" Health - 0.1
Weight - 1.6
Damage - 0.08
"Tamed Dinos Add Per Level" Health - 0.07
Damage - 0.07
"Tamed Dino Stats Affinity" Health - 0.22
Damage - 0.22
"Player Stats Per Level" Weight - 50
Check the checkboxes for "Flyer Platform Unaligned Basing", "Passive Def Hurt Riderless Dinos", "Only Allow Specified Engrams", "Show Floating Damage Text", "Allow Custome Recipes", and "Allow Raid Dino Feeding"
Raid Dino Food Drain - 10
Crafting Skill Bonus Multiplier - 2
Supply Crate Loot Quality - 2
Fishing Loot Quality - 2
Increase Platform Structure Limit - 1000
Some of these settings are arguably personal preference, like how I set the dino food drain multiplier so high because I like having to feed my dinosaurs more often. But a lot of these settings work in tandem with eachother after agonizing over them for a lot longer than I'd like to admit. For example, the XP multiplier is so high because otherwise it would be impossible to level up a reaper fetus due to the increased egg hatch/pregnancy speeds. Etc etc, use caution when changing lots of settings.
Mostly you can just set up these settings and then forget about them, but bear in mind that it's okay to change them if you want to later on.
