The numbers on the ARG page are pretty much identical (I only checked Killing Floor and TWEOTW) to the numbers of people playing the games here, so it looks like that might be the number of hours needed to be played? In any case, I estimate Portal 2 to be released on the 17th.

EDIT: Either that, or everyone who has Steam needs at least one of the games in the potato sack.

I checked the rest against that list.  It seems you are correct.  It is the current number of users.

EDIT: Either that, or everyone who has Steam needs at least one of the games in the potato sack.

No, some of the numbers have gone down since I did my calculation.  Killing floor dropped by 3 users.

I wonder then, are the numbers I calculated the total number of copies of each game owned?

Just looking at the numbers, that is entirely possible. I wonder if there is a way to find out how many people own a game on Steam?

No.  Not that I'm aware of.  I'll see if I can find Killing Floor's stats.  That one is popular enough that there might be data available.

Edit: ALL steam Global Achievements are down.  I can't even see how many people have completed a given TF2 or L4D achievement.

So happy you said that... I hadn't looked at it and probably wouldn't have. That and Cogs are going to eat most of my evening and a chunk of tomorrow probably...

Don't!  The Wonderful End of the world is a horrible American remake of Katamari.  It's unlgy, terrible level design, broken physics, and very lose controls.

Oh, and the current release time (EST) is 9:59:52 am April 19th (i.e. 8 seconds early).  Way to go people!

Thanks for the warning, I was just checking this topic again before checking out at the store.

Man I always wanted to make my own PC remake, but I know there's no way I woulda done better than these guys anyway, so oh well.

The large countdown is apparently the countdown until the origional release date. If you view the source of the page then it shows a different time remaining, currently 71:23:18.

Since the TWEOTW bar has moved quite a way across, it seems the bars do not show the number of people playing. I'm inclined to think that it is actually the number of potato achievements unlocked.

I think the bars are hours played.

Where'd you come up with that number?  This is what I see:

<div id="clock">87:31:26</div>

   <div id="console">
08:57 - Default boot scheduled to finish in <span id="console_clock">87:31:26</span>

Possible.  Or the hours played.  I did another recalc based on the Wonderful End of the World and got a max value of ~9000 (down from 25,000).  So it's certainly based on something but it doesn't indicate what.

So... I didn't hate TWEotW. My only complaints about it are the same ones I have about Katamari (apparently they both make me sick to my stomach) and I think I actually like the keyboard+mouse controls better than the giant rolly ball controls of Katamari.

Also, here's what I saw in the page source:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I'm kind of disinclined to believe that actually means anything though, because it's the same number as the one Mini saw three hours ago.

That number has no meaning what so ever.  It's just a default value for the span tag before it gets over-written by the javascript running on the page.

Disable javascript and reload the page, you'll find that number displayed prominently.

If that number is real, it means that it would be measured from when the 94 hours started, indicating Monday at 12:38pm or so.

Yup, kind of figured as much.
