I have one friend who I haven't spoken to about it yet but who will almost certainly be up for it. But I'd also be up for some Bay12 co-op action.

This doesn't really seem like it fits the "random internet player" kind of co-op experience.

I'm of the same opinion. Random player encounters will either be of the "I read every guide out there this is the only way to play DO EET MY WAY!!!" variety, or else of the "Mmm, I'm mute, and have no clue what I'm doing, and am not interested in taking advice or trying to work together. Now, how to you shoot portal again?"

If any B12ers are interested, I'll throw my name in as a semi-non-random player.  ;)

I've preordered and will probably be playing a bit with my brother, but I'm generally up a lot later than he is.  *puts name in the semi-non-random pool.

I won't be pre-ordering, but I'm pretty sure that if/when I buy the game I've got a buddy.

Hm...

Anyway on the subject of co-op, I can tell you that, at least with MY friends, the game will be extremely replayable. In fact the co-op mode will be 10 times more challenging than single player. This is also evidenced in Magicka... I still have yet to complete a 4-player playthrough with my regular gaming buddies. Halfway through it devolves into a complete fuckoff with everyone laughing hysterically and then everyone dying horribly somehow. I imagine Portal 2 will be similar where at first we'll be calmly working through puzzles and then later on "Hey I wonder if I can hit you with the laser while you fly through the air after slipping on goo and going through 4 portals!"

I prepurchased it, it's preloaded on my laptop, I am ready to roll. Steam name is same as here, just add [DFC] in front of it. I'm going to be spending the majority of the 19th playing through the single-player campaign.

Someone needs to get that up on the Portal Wiki.  Any idea how that link was arrived at?

09:00 – Hello again.
09:00 – I’ve been waiting a long time for this.
09:00 – I know it’s arriving later than expected.
09:00 – But I have a message for you:
09:00 – April Fools.
09:01 – I’m joking.
09:01 – Seriously, though:
09:01 – You’ve been surprisingly competent at
09:01 – generating electro-chemical energy to jumpstart the system.
09:01 – But now we need raw computational power
09:02 – to speed up the reboot process.

It loaded. You have to play the indie games to speed up the portal 2 launch. It's currently at 93 hours.

I know I'll be playing some Killing Floor to try and buy the potato gun, just because I've been meaning to and now there's another reason.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Oh, so you might have to just unlock the potato achievements in those games, not necessarily play them a whole bunch? Do we know that for sure?

For those of you that are bad at math:

The timer ends at 10am on Tuesday, the 19th (Eastern).  So far there is a 7 second discrepancy between my system time and the indicated timer (i.e. the current play counts have removed 7 seconds).

Approximate number of [game plays | achievements | game hours] required (+/- 10%):

Defense Grid:                    214,000
Killing Floor:...................723,500
Cogs:                             34,000
Rush:.............................20,500
Toki Tori:                        25,000
Bit Trip Beat:....................39,500
1...2...3... Kick It!:            13,500
Audiosurf:.......................218,000
The Wonderful End of the World:   25,500
Super Meat Boy:..................324,000
Amnesia: Dark Descent:           134,500
AAAAAA!!!:........................33,000
The Ball: 5                       56,000

I should also note: the lower that value is, the more terrible the game (as in fewer people own it).
