Neat way to promote a bunch of pretty cool indie games.

They're pretty average, IMO.
I pirated (and then bought) The Ball, because it was pretty good, although the ending was weak.
Killing Floor I pirated and deleted within about 4 hours of gameplay, simply because it's a Slippy Slope Whore (you're new at the game: you kill fewer zombies: you have less money to buy stuff: you have less capability TO kill zombies: go to step 2 (you kill fewer zombies)).
The Wonderful End of the World is a poor clone of Katamari for PC.
Defense Grid I've heard is a weak TD

Anyway, you get my point.  They're all very shiny, but the game play is only par.

How much you want to bet is just gonna release it at T-24h?

Or something.

"Yeah, all that playing and math and stuff, you didn't need to do it. We were gonna release it now anyway."

Reduction was 28:53.  0.85% of (prior) remaining time.

The first one was 1.05%, the second was 1.15%, the third 0.85%.  Averages to 1.0167%

"Yeah, all that playing and math and stuff, you didn't need to do it. We were gonna release it now anyway."

More like "It's nice and all that you guys bought and played those games, but really you only earned yourself about 3 hours off the initial time.  In other words, right when we were going to do it anyway"

Strange. I read elsewhere that it gave a full hour.

Strange. I read elsewhere that it gave a full hour.

I did the math.

Current                  55:53:15
Base                     57:52:36
Total reduction           1:59:21    Line1 - Line2
TWEotW's reduction        0:50:00
Kick It' reduction        0:40:28
AAAAAA!!!'s reduction     0:28:53    Line3 - (Line4 + Line5)

Edit:
I was wrong.  Mistake on line 1, should be 55:23:15.
Reduction was 0:58:53

(Later edit: ok, wth governs these reductions?  I can't find a pattern)

Maybe it depends on how hard it was to complete.  So a game like Cogs which is probably easy to finish would only give say an hour, but a game like killing floor which is hard to complete would give 5 hours.

But who knows!

I'm seeing ~150 (2:30) minutes reduction or so.

Go install that Firefox addon and go to the GlaDOS@Home page.

According to it, we've shaved about 20 hours off the initial release time - Right now, Portal 2 will be released at 10:44:45 AM on Monday.

Just got pointed at this Firefox plugin which adds additional info on the progress meters.

It is highly suspected that the potato multiplier will kick in at 375466, which should speed things up considerably. Should hit that number in about 4 hours or so from the current rate of increase.

Edit: also send valve some potatoes http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1842444

Maybe it depends on how hard it was to complete.  So a game like Cogs which is probably easy to finish would only give say an hour, but a game like killing floor which is hard to complete would give 5 hours.

It's unrelated.  Kick It! which was harder than Wonderful End shaved off less time.  Rush, which was harder than AAAAAA!!! also shaved off less time.  I'm beginning to think it's random.

According to it, we've shaved about 20 hours off the initial release time - Right now, Portal 2 will be released at 10:44:45 AM on Monday.

That plugin is only a prediction.  When AAAAAA!!! completed, it's estimate lost 5 hours (went from 4am to 9am).  When Rush completed, it lost a few more hours (it says 12:25 pm now).

It is highly suspected that the potato multiplier will kick in at 375466, which should speed things up considerably. Should hit that number in about 2 hours or so from the current rate of increase.

Potatoes do not effect the time reduced when a game is "completed" they only make completing other games easier.

True and I wasn't saying that it did, however it does mean that games that would have otherwise been outside the time limit will be able to be completed.
