=The Crafters Guild=

Membership is open!

All of the following is to be modified at the will of the members:

=Purpose=
The Crafters Guild is the sister guild of The Engravers Guild. This guild shares the goals of creative and technical advancement of its members, but with a focus on three dimensional crafting, especially sculptural work of all scales, metalworking, gem-cutting, glass-working, model building, et cetera, et cetera...

This guild is focused on physical creations ~ computer generated pieces are probably better fit for The Engraver's Guild, except where those pieces ultimately result in a physical work (such as a model printed using a rapid prototyping machine).

=How to Participate=
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

* Craft, craft, craft ~ and share the results.
* Browse the posts and offer critique when people are asking for it!
* Offer new links to add to the resource list...

-Getting Critique-
Generally, it is best to describe the difficulty you may be having with a piece, so that you can focus the members' advice on the elements which you are working on. For example: You draw a dwarf, but you'd like the image to show more depth. Note this in the post and we will focus on that specific problem.

Try to describe which effects you are trying to achieve as clearly as possible.

It is also important not to take critique personally, even if it is poorly given. Remember that it is difficult to gauge someone's intonation through text alone.

-Giving Critique-
Always be as constructive as possible with critique; that is, when identifying a weakness, give a possible solution as often as possible.

Try to identify which elements/techniques work/fail and state why.

Embrace divergent styles. Difference is good, try to understand what the person is aiming for and gauge the usefullness of your critique against that.

=Ongoing Project(s)=

=Resources=
If you have any sort of useful link at all, please just post it and it will be added to this list as soon as possible. Don't worry if it doesn't fit an existant category - we will add new ones as neccessary.

=The Crafters' Guild=

No, I'm not employing the possessive.

Arrite.

I still think you should correct the symbols and the spelling, though.

I made this goblin out of air drying modeling clay.
Does it count as a craft?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know what kind of paints are good for models?

With what little I've done I used acrylic paint, but I'm sure there's better stuff out there.

Yep this counts :)

You have quite a few options for painting. There are inexpensive craft paints that are suitable for most needs, but if you find you need higher pigment paint you'll want to go to paints meant for models like the citadel paints.

First though you should prime it, probably with matte black spray paint. The actual painting will probably be mostly dry brushing and washes (watered down paint) to build up the skin colors.

Okay I'm going to put these here:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

1.7 cm tall, sculpy. I painted them with craft paints except the blue and silver which is citadel.

I'm hoping to practice making these until I can afford some green stuff and get some real detail.

You should make a tiny cat to go with those, it would so fit.

That would be pretty cool. Dwarves vs. Goblins?
